All Australians would be very sad today to hear both NZ and England failed to make the semis in the cricket 20-20 World Cup.

Aussies all in a spin

Pakistan completely strangled Australia with spin in an embarrassing stagger before the World Twenty20 semi-finals.

CAPTAIN George Bailey has refused to concede Australia was embarrassed by Pakistan's spinners after scrambling into the World Twenty20 semi-finals despite a 32-run loss.

Good luck for the Baggy Greens.

Come off it Pete! We dropped that game to make sure India wouldn't make the finals, and give us the easiest run to the GF.

The home country will knock the Pakis (Pakistanis for the English) out in the semi.

Well, ya mite be rite.......

AUSTRALIA has landed in the soft World Twenty20 semi-final against West Indies tomorrow night.

Yup, congratulations to the Australian ladies sheilas. The only winners from down under seem to be of the female persuasion these days. Where have all the blokes gone?

Wallabys beat the Argie bargies...... 25-19....... GOOD ONE GUYS !!!

FYI: Kiwi coach and all points scored by NZ born expats.

Robbie Deans may still have a job next year, Australia were 2nd in the competition.

All Blacks won the competition, of course.

Congrats to the ABs.

I doubt Deans will be coach of Australia much longer.

Apparently he is very unpopular among the playing group.

(what were they thinking putting a Kiwi in charge of Australia!!)

Don't under estimate Deans.

He comes from a determined rugby family.

And a Catabrian to boot.

I reckon he could make a good team from all the youngsters he now has.

In the UK we have been subject to a series of very boring political party conferences this month. Only Boris has livened the Conservative platform.

However La Gillard and 'Speedo' Abbott seem to be giving the Australian public some entertaining vignettes.

I know some of the things cited are a year or more old, but still ...

That's why we saw tourism from Oz to Vietnam rise by around 25% per year for the past 8-10 years.

In 2007 Southern VN was still a rip-off culture in many minor ways, but the local authorities stamped down hard on taxi firms and such. Now Saigon and the coast are host to many Aussie businesses (From Hog Roast Cafe upwards)(and downwards) and many, many tourists.

Direct flights by Jetstar help as well.

Hue is also a must-see in the centre, Hoi-An and Da-Nang also.

But for me the South is best - I'm not into mountains much. More a sea, sand and fun sort of guy.

Some time ago, on another thread, I mentioned a dog about whom a book had been written and a film was coming. Here it is:

Some of the scenery brings back memories. I was working up there at the time.

Gunna look out for "Red Dog".

I remember and enjoyed so many OZ outback memories.....

I neva forgot the theme song.

The the unforgettable.... "Bush Christmas".. classics in my eyes.

No fancy FX, just natural.

The Overlander Trail.

We're on the Overlander, Overlander trail

Where only sheer determination will prevail

Men of hussy with a job to do

So they'll stick and drive the cattle through

And 'though they sweat and curse

They know they surely must

Keep on the trail that winds ahead

Through heat and dust

All sons of hussy and they will not fail

They're on the Overlander, Overlander trail

Trying to remember the star of the movie, my alzheimers..... grrrrrrrr.

Just slipping my mind at the mo.

I don't care for herding dogs generally, but there's no doubt in my mind that the Austrailian heeler dogs are the best of that group.

Australia denies NZers any welfare, any unemployment, accident ins, basically any help wotsoever.

Meanwhile all kiwis pay all taxes, as any Australian does.

NOW Gilliard and co are really gunna rub in the sh*t.
Does not affect me personally, as I lived in OZ before the cut off of, 2001.

Update

Unconfirmed reports that the Australian government has requested the New Zealand government to reimburse Australia for the benefits it would pay kiwis if the current bans were repealed.
So let's think about this logically for a second:

New Zealand taxpayers pay for their children's education through primary and secondary school, possibly even university.

Those kiwis then move to Australia already educated and trained at no cost to Australia and begin to work in jobs, paying full tax to the Australian treasury.

New Zealand gets nothing back during this time, even though they originally invested in the people who flew across the ditch.

Australia enjoys the labour and the tax take, with no cost to educate, and currently limited cost in situations of unemployment, and yet they apparently want more from the New Zealand taxpayer?
Makes my blood boil, Ockors in NZ, get the same benefits as NZ citizens, accident compo etc.
Never call Ockors fair minded no more....... <deleted>.
How many fair minded Australians, really agree with this discrimination?
Boat people who become refugees get everything handed out to them, even more than indigent Australians.
The current OZ government stinks, to put it mildly.
Dunno, but I await Old Croc's comment, an Ockors view.

So you'll be supporting the B&I Lions in their tour of Oz?

And we'll win the Ashes tour this summer, just as we've thumped the Blackcaps.

Really, it's all this socialism that you've got down under. The socialist philosophy has never been even-handed - it's always been to take from everyone they can and look after their own interests before the general population. And Welsh trade unionists !! Well, glad it's you lpt that have Gillard and not us.

GAS BILL
Anything managed through bureaucracies!!!.

You will like this! ... And it is a true story!

A man living in Kandos (near Mudgee in NSW, Australia ) received a bill for his as yet unused gas line stating that he owed $0.00.

He ignored it and threw it away. In April he received another bill and threw that one away too.

The following month the gas company sent him a very nasty note stating that they were going to cancel his gas line if he didn't send them $0.00 by
return mail.

He called them, talked to them, and they said it was a computer error and they would take care of it.

The following month he decided that it was about time that he tried out the troublesome gas line figuring that if there was usage on the
account it would put an end to this ridiculous predicament.

However, when he went to use the gas, it had been cut off.

He called the gas company who apologised for the computer error once again and said that they would take care of it. The next day he got a bill for
$0.00 stating that payment was now overdue.

Assuming that having spoken to them the previous day the latest bill was yet another mistake, he ignored it, trusting that the company would be as
good as their word and sort the problem out.

The next month he got a bill for $0.00. This bill also stated that he Had 10 days to pay his account or the company would have to take steps to
recover the debt.

Finally, giving in, he thought he would beat the gas company at their own game and mailed them a cheque for $0.00. The computer duly processed his
account and returned a statement to the effect that he now owed the gas company nothing at all.

A week later, the manager of the Mudgee branch of the Westpac Banking Corporation called our hapless friend and asked him what he was doing
writing cheque for $0.00.

After a lengthy explanation the bank manager replied that the $0.00 cheque had caused their cheque processing software to fail. The bank could
therefore not process ANY cheques they had received from ANY of their customers that day because the cheque for $0.00 had caused the computer to crash.

The following month the man received a letter from the gas company claiming that his cheque had bounced and that he now owed them $0.00
and unless he sent a cheque by return mail they would take immediate steps to recover the debt.

At this point, the man decided to file a debt harassment claim against the gas company. It took him nearly two hours to convince the clerks
at the local courthouse that he was not joking.

They subsequently helped him in the drafting of statements which were considered substantive evidence of the aggravation and difficulties
he had been forced to endure during this debacle.

The matter was heard in the Magistrate's Court in Mudgee and the outcome was this:

The gas company was ordered to:

[1] Immediately rectify their computerised accounts system or Show cause, within 10 days, why the matter should not be referred to a higher court
for consideration under Company Law.

[2] Pay the bank dishonour fees incurred by the man.

[3] Pay the bank dishonour fees incurred by all the Westpac clients whose cheques had been bounced on the day our friend's had been processed.

[4] Pay the claimant's court costs; and

[5] Pay the claimant a total of $1500 per month for the 5 month period March to July inclusive as compensation for the aggravation they had
caused their client to suffer.

And all this over $0.00.

Who employs these idiots?
