Removing Ubuntu From A Dual Boot System

Recommended Posts

I have a dual boot Vista and Ubuntu system, but not very happy with Ubuntu.

1. How do I remove Ubuntu completely?

2. How do I delete the OS selector thingie (is it called grub?) on boot up?

Well, this is the way I've used:

Boot up with you Vista disk in your cd-rom. Choose to enter Repair Your Computer. Click on the OS you want to repair. Choose Next. In the next dialog box, System Recovery Options, click the Command Prompt. Type in BootREC.exe /FixMbr. Should get rid of GRUB.

To expand into your freed space, go to Start->Control Panel->System and Maintanence->Administrative Tools->Computer Managment->Storage->Disk Management. You're going to want to format the Unknown Partition with NTFS and than right click that newly formated parition and choose expand. Follow the wizard and you should be good to go.

Given up so soon??

I actually thought about telling him to fire up in a single user session and passing along a

dd if=/dev/null of=/dev/hda && dd if=/dev/urandom of=/dev/hda

That would have fixed his Ubuntu problem. :o
