October 19, 200421 yr Police nab Nigerian heroin smuggler SA KEAW: -- Police in Thailand's eastern province of Sa Kaew have arrested a 45 year-old Nigerian man wanted for heroin trafficking, as he prepared to escape across the border into Cambodia. Pol. Lt. Col. Sakchai Phudet from Aranyaprathet district police station said that Mr. Eze Chkwu Peter was sent for detention in Bangkok today after having been arrested yesterday on the Cambodian border. Mr. Peter, who had been named by two Thai nationals arrested in Bangkok in possession of 11.5 kilograms of heroin, had been on the run from police in Bangkok following the issuance of a warrant for his arrest. Police said that the Nigerian had entered Thailand across the southern border in Songkhla Province in July, and that his tourist visa had already expired. Officers are now hunting for another Nigerian man and a Thai woman thought to be involved in the case. -- TNA 2004-10-20
