Pt Lens

Here's a link to an absolutely brilliant piece of software - well worth the money

Example attached of before and after correcting barrel/pincushion/CA and distortion - 2 clicks only!

http://epaperpress.com/ptlens/

p.s. surf the site too for some nice free downloads i.e. frames/tones/classic tones etc

Thank you "The Vulcan",

Download the trial version (stand-alone XP) and had two goes at a panoramic photo of mine. First go was the posted photo below, the second was the original un-cropped version that I used, so I had room to play both (more top and bottom of the un-cropped photo).

Result is below:-

Before:-

and After using this program:-

The fence in the foreground straightened up, but the horizon in the center has lifted a bit….. mmmmm

Your views please… worth buying it.... :o

Kan Win :D

P.S. only need a program like this to sort out me pano photos

Oh Yes, definitely worth buying.

I don't do panorama stuff so unsure if the software you use strips the metadata from the image. If it does, then the PTLens software isn't for you ( at least for your pano's)

Did the software correctly identify you camera and lens?

p.s. you'd be surprised how much you'll use this software for other corrections. We often fail to see barrel/pincushion and the like. PTLens doesn't!

The fence in the foreground straightened up, but the horizon in the center has lifted a bit….. mmmmm

Unless there is a hill in the distance, then the horizon should be straight. :o

The fence may be curving as it goes around the perimeter of the land it encloses.

Surely pincushion and barrel distortion should be at a minimum if the lens is well designed?

Just download the software and run a few of your shots through it - No lens is distortion free!

I shall do so.

Looking at your shot it is not barrel or pinchushion distortion that has been corrected,

it is perspective distortion!!

Mind you at $15 that is cheaper than a shift lens.

BTW SilkyPix also has a perspective correction facility, and I already have that loaded.

Yes, I know my examples depict the perspective correction but I mentioned the barrel/pincushion aspect as being additional attributes of the software.

The vertical re-alignment is also beneficial.

As you say, for $15 it's well worth it.

Took an extreme shot today to test this software (no artistic intent) - 17mm lens obviously giving massive distortion.

I think the corrected result speaks for itself especially as I'm still playing with the software and have yet to fine tune it.

Wow, and there was me tinking my photo was p*ssed like this one
