200 Foreigners Blacklisted for Child Sexual Abuse

BANGKOK: -- In a police hunt for child sexual abuse suspects, some 200 foreigners have been blacklisted for homosexual abuse against minors.

The Children Juveniles and Women Center police have arrested 46-year-old Thana Prayunsuk on charges of sexual molestation against minors aged under 15. The suspect's possessions, including a car, pornography books, a knife, and two fake guns, gave been confiscated. Thana had an arrest warrant from the Bangkhunthian police for the same charge.

The suspect admitted that he would drive around in his car and force boys to get in the car and have sex with him. He claimed the pressure of being raped by a man when he was 12 drove him to commit the crimes. His targets are boys aged between 11 to 16 years old.

Meanwhile, the Royal Thai Police is hunting suspects of child sexual abuse around the country and have some 200 names of foreigners on their blacklist.

The Anti-Human Trafficking Act will become effective on June 5th. Police Major Wimon Pao-in, Director of the Children Juveniles and Women Division of the Royal Thai Police, said the Act will permit police officers over the deputy superintendent rank to enter suspected areas without a search warrant. Also under the Act, any media that releases information, sound or picture, of the victims will be sentenced to six years in jail at most or fined up to 60,000 baht.
