chivo
Are there any restrictions with someone sending me an i-phone from USA to Bangkok? With regards to customs, etc? If it is a gift to me... Any regulations of sending such a device. Thanks Chivo
sfokevin
When you say "sending" What do you mean? FedEx, Mail, hand carry in luggage??? - Please be more specific?...
chivo
sfokev, I'm open to all methods of shipping (whether fedex dhl or other) especially any that would minimize customs involvement, if that even is an issue. is there a tax issue on goods like this? thanks chivo
Sakeopete
Unless it is hand carried I wouldn't do it as Thai customs like to set their own rules. Besides you can purchase one in Bangkok if you really want one.
Pepe'
Actually receiving it? The chances it will be stolen are high...
Prakanong
Apart from receiving it - should have no problems Fedex etc but may have to pay duty. What about if it needs any servicing? Is it a totally open one you are getting or will it be modded? I nearly bought one in the UK recently but in the Apple shop it specifically stated the phone could only be serviced in the country bought - totally open model. Shah Jahan
It is not wise to have one mailed 1 - It will get stolen 2- if it is not stolen - customs will do stupid duties I bought one at Fortune for 18k new and unlocked - they might even be less at MBK
chivo
Huh. I didnt know they were avail in thailand.... Are they black market or the apple shops have them? dekka007
It WILL NOT get stolen if you use Fedex or DHL or UPS. And even if it should go missing they will refund you 100% of the items value. Customs will hammer you be prepared for 30% or so. Like others have said whats the point just buy it here. or wait 2-3 weeks for the new 3g one coming next month. onnut
my sister set three pairs of shoes to me a couple of years ago. all had been worn by me and I needed them to be sent as I could not find shoes in Bangkok to fit me. I was charged 4,500 baht this end. it might be better for you to just buy the iphone in MBK, at least that way if it breaks they can take care of it for you. I will never let anyone send me anything again. glad I found a shoe shop for big feet in Pattaya. Timberlands on beach road in one of the shopping centers there, just in case there are other people with big feet.
