For a number of years now I have been renewing my Non-O Multi at the Hull Consulate in the UK. Never any problems, friendly, efficient, job done in less than 30 minutes.

This year due to various commitments it would be more convenient for me to get the renewal in Birmingham, but I don't want to choose convenience if it's going to land me with any problems. Would much rather make the journey to Hull if that's the case.

Does anyone have any experience of differences or otherwise between the two places?

I always use hull as im over 50 so i can get multi entry o.if you are under 50 then i wouldnt use birmingham as a couple of mates were refused and given 6 month ones only.

Used Birmingham for the last couple of years for multi entry non-o's and had no problems.

My wife is Thai.

Suggest you give them a call first and explain your situation and what you require.

I've used Hull for the last 3 years. I'm 35 and single, and always get the 12 month non-o with no questions asked.

As my parents live in Devon I always post the passport and application - send on Monday and receive back on Wednesday, costs about 12 quid for the recorded delivery envelopes, and print the forms from the website - alot quicker and easier.

I'm not yet 50, and get my Non-O's from Hull on the basis of my children, who are Thai nationals. Do you think this approach will create any problems in Birmingham?

I've been getting non O visas from Birmingham for several years now and have never had a problem, always completed within a few minutes. they charge an extra £5-00 to process the application immediately or recorded delivery postage and packing if you want it sent to your home. They're only open in the mornings though (unless they've changes opening times within the last year) so if you want it processed immediately it's best to get there as soon as they open if you can (around 8-30 am).

I can't see you having a problem gettng a visa from anywhere if your children are Thai nationals, in fact, I think you'll find it's more likely that they'll bend over backwards to help you.

Personally, I've always posted to Hull and found them very helpful and cooperative.
