Our neighbors who live opposite us are starting to pee my wife off because everyday once I go to work they waltz in to our house to help my wife with the baby. She doesn’t need it or want it. She says they are a pain because they upset the dogs which start barking which in turn wakes up the baby, then when he is awake they start giving him a bath?????????

My wife reckons that from what they have been saying, the husband used to have a good income but has now lost it, and the wife is trying to get a babysitting job coz she keeps asking about my job and if I do well and all that.

Now my wife is too shy to tell them to f-k off which is what I would do.

It’s a Sunday afternoon and I am sitting here relaxing on the sofa when this guy from over the road just stands at the gate looking into the house, of course the dogs start barking and the baby wakes up. So I just got up and closed the sliding doors. Next time we open them some other Pratt will be standing there trying to look in or trying to play with the dogs or something.

So guys, without being rude, and without getting my dogs poisoned how the hel-l can we get rid of these f-kwits?

I am not giving them a job, besides we already have a maid, and we don’t need baby sitters coz mother and father in law live just up the road, and my sister in law lives with us.

I notice in my area, that a lot of folk have put signs on their gates saying 'No entry, my dogs have Aids and the Maid bites', in both Thai and English. It's obviously a joke, of course, but it does seem to do the trick.

Maybe you could try something like this and make sure, you are seen, locking these signs on your gates. At least it would let them know you are not too impressed! Your wife also, then, has the excuse, when being questioned about them, that you don't like them coming in univited.

Now, if there is a sure way to get rid of people it is this. Join a network marketing company like Amway or Herbalife etc, then spend every waking minute trying to recuit them, even drop by their house with you sales kit, videos, cds etc. Soon your whole neighbourhood will duck for cover whenever they see you. Probably even scare off the burglars when the word gets around. :o

We had a similar thing happen to me and Mrs, the girl across the road kept leaving her baby for my Mrs to look after all the time and going out shopping, my Mrs got to the point of feeling she was getting the p*ss taken, but wouldnt say anything....so I gave her an out and told her to tell the girl I was getting p*ssed off and angry with her (my wife) over this, she just played the messenger and passed a message on...worked like a charm and my Mrs didnt loose face. The girl is very wary around me these days.....

Have you ever heard of door locks?

we like the doors to stay open during the day because of the breeze we get. its our house, we own it so why shouldnt we leave the doors open if we want? it does not mean we are letting anyone come in uninvited does it?

I like this idea- just be more of a social pariah than your irritating neighbour... Genius :D

Maybe try to borrow money FROM them :o

Beside that joke, we were in a simillar situation, actually also some half mafia people who tried to sell the things they took from people who lend money from them. Luckily from the beginning my wife had a 6th sense and never had any money at home. For a 100 Baht payment she had to find 20 Baht here coins there. Like we are very poor and only try to look like money but really there is no money.

Once from our Volvo the glases of the mirrors were missing (and the mechanic inside broken). And these guys just had to repair an Volvo from unknown origin.....

If they think we have money they might walk in and "find" some.

But to make it short. If your wife don't care nothing, next time they come she shall try to borrow 40 Baht for milk for the baby. And give back later only 20 Baht first while telling how super rich you are but just waiting for the next payment of the company.....

Thats a super way to get rid of such people.

Why don't you check the surrounding area for Bluetooth phones and send them some of those lovely pics you sent me once :D

I guarantee that will work :o

(sorry for those of you that have no idea what we are talking about)

Also:

An open door in Thailand is exactly that - an open door - people will wander in. If you want breeze, get a screen door (WITH A LOCK) and have a large sign written in Thai saying, "SLEEPING CHILD, PLEASE DO NOT DISTURB!!" If all that doesn't work, get a shotgun... Jeez ....

Actually, it sounds like the Mrs. has the problem and she should deal with in her own way. Neighbors can be like that and you can firmly, but nicely set limits when you are home. Going to the door and telling people to come back later, your really busy now etc.

The easiest way of dealing with this stuff is to prevent it. From day one, where I live, I've had a pretty definite response to uninvited guests--I don't let them in. If they want to talk, I stand outside on the road and talk with them, but coming in the house isn't an option. Sometimes I start cleaning the yard or car out, so I look busy. I've even called the house phone from the cell phone and had to suddenly run and answer (shutting the door firmly behind me).

They are neighbors and you really don't want to be on bad terms with them, if possible.

Best of luck to you.

Slightly off topic but a similar story is the lady who used to own the 108 shop near my house. Every time I went in there she would gossip...such and such has lost so much weight, do you think she is on drugs? or the worst was each month when I would go in she would "remind" me that my telephone bill is due, or I haven't paid my water bill or similar, it turns out she has a relative who works in some government department so she takes it upon herself to be everybodies calender...

Need less to say, her 108 shop went out of business. Not through lack of potential customers but because nobody ever went back a second time.

Back on topic, I personally find it extremely rude that people can just walk into your house uninvited. I used to have a serious problem with my wife's family coming over and just walking right in and helping themselves to the fridge, food etc etc.

Oneday I was lounging in my jacuzzi reading a book when the MIL arrived with (funnily enough a thaivisa member) a potential renter, I didn't even know the house I live in was on the rental market. Turns out the MIL had thought she would do me a favour and rent my house out for me :o , it was the last straw as I have never been so embarrassed in my life and I presume the thaivisa member (small world huh?) who arrived to look at my house was quite embarrassed too.

Now I have a remote controlled gate so atleast they have to ring the doorbell to get someone to open the gate before they eat all my food and drink all my beer.

Why not offer them both a job? Then advise them that in order to get the necessary security clearance from your company it is necessary to obtain a complete police background check on themselves, their parents, their siblings and their children. The background check shall have to go back ten years and include all organisations they were involved with supplying an entire list of members and their current addresses.

You are typical of the many Farangs that live here.

My neighbours are exactly the same. Unlike the many anti social Farang openly hostile residents in Thailand, Thais especially those that live in villages are still very community minded.

This is Thailand, so get used to it or move on.

Have a wall built around your property, install a gate, lock it and keep yourself to yourself, end of problem.

Cute. As an added incentive to be feared and loathed, you could always join some dippo religious group, c/w over-zealous doorstep recruitment policies. Aaarrrrghhhhh! :D

Your best friend in Thailand is a closed fence. If it is closed - All the potential hosers can't stroll on in.

A fence : Priceless!

Trust me this will not work. It will have the opposite affect. For Thai people they seem to love that crap.

they always come in when I am not there, so I never see them. and if you knew me, which chances are, you probably do know me. you would know that I do have a pair of balls, and you would also feel sorry for the neigbours if I do walk in when they are there.

I just want to do this in a way so noone losses face!!!!

You have a point. "Ok. We'll talk about The Kingdom Of Jehovah after we get over this basic arithmetic hump, shall we?" :D

Have your wife visit your intrusive neighbors with a tale off seeing a white-haired old lady roaming through your house last night. Thais are freaked by ghosts. :o They'll stay away.
