Hi Everyone,

So glad to have come past this Website as its helped me out alot. Since this is my first post, just thought I'd give a quick intro,I am a Australian Citizen, 26 years old and have currently been in a relationship with my Fiance for nearly 12 months, I first met her in June 2007 and went back to TH in December 2007 to stay with her for 3 weeks. We have a very solid and genuine relationship. I proposed to her on my 2nd last night there and since then have been doing all the paperwork to get everything right. We will be going for the PMV route. We are nearly at 90% completion and we hope to be lodging our app. very soon.

What I would like to know is from others, with past experience and knowledge how they will look at our application. The part I am worried about is the time in total that I have spent with her being only 5 weeks. although we have a very committed LDR. We have gathered as much evidence that we can possible. Just would like to here some views and thoughts from you guys.

Thank You for reading this post.

Each application is determined on its own merits....

Part of the application is to prove an ongoing and honest relationship...you may have some difficulty.

Have you considered a tourist visa? This will give her a chance to see if she actually could live here and aslo to meet your family and friends. It will also give you the time together that you currently havent got.

I agree with the LP that a tourist visa maybe the best first option.

With the documentation side it is important to supply proof of of relationship ie:photos with dates, phone a/c records, email records to verify the dates you write on application documents.

This worked for me for two 3 mth tourist visa's.Also a covering letter providing details of your financial means and background will help. This is only my experience but on the 2nd 3 month application we actually recieved a visa for 12 months, although had ticked the 3 month box!!

I have been told informally by a govt employee that T/ladies are considered as high risk of visa..may i say indiscretions :o

Good Luck

A visitors visa 676 would be the best way to go to enable you both to get your "hours " with regard to your "relationship" up to a standard which will enable you both to go to the next stage, a financee or spouse visa application.

IMO DIAC should stipulate minimum periods of "relationship" proof before applying for a financee or spouse visa, they already do for a defacto relationship, 12months. It would create a level playing field for everyone.

The "high risk" statement means that some applicants may be using the 676 visa to obtain entry to Australia with the intention of working ( they often gain work in the sex industry).

hi because i was in thai at the time and my mate was working in australia i helped his thai girl to go aust . he would send me bank details and everything that showed he was able to look after her , and i helped because he was a good sort of a person with a well paying job . he even went to a thai cooking class so when she lived with him she could eat the food .

Ok after about 3 months i finaly took her to aiport she landed in melbourne he was there with flowers and part of his family everything was great. two years have past and she is back in thailand and they split , the reason ? well he went to work everyday she was stuck at home ,some times he would come home early and find her crying because she needed her sisters , also all her clothes didnt fit all of that came together and she wanted to go home . Sean im not saying this will be you problem but beware.

cheers.

Thanks alot guys, well Ive been thinking and we have discussed that the tourist 676 visa is the way to go. The last thing I want is to be rejected for a PMV and waste money in doing so. Hopefully she doesnt get "no further stay" stamped on her visa and we can extend her stay here. Just one thing what are the main points I should cover on the letter I will be submitting with her TV application?

The first TV would more than likely be a 3 month with a No Further Stay....but you never know.

Cover how you will support her, where you will stay, and something about what you will be doing while she is here.

Hi

It seems that the question has been answered but I'll add my experience anyway. I proposed to my Thai GF after spending a grand total of 12 nights actually with her, but after being in the relationship for 12 months. We got a 3 month tourist visa to start with, and it was approved on the day we put in the application - don't know if you will be that lucky now that it doesn't go directly through the embassy. You need to put in your cover letter that you have a job, you can support your gf in Australia while she is here, and that you will make sure she goes back at the end of the 3 months.

The visa we got was stamped 'no further stay' and I gather that is the case for all.

When my gf went back I followed about 4 weeks later and we did the prospective marriage application. That was approved in 2 days so we came back to Australia together. Again, don't think you would get it that quick now that a third party takes the applications in Bangkok.

In a nutshell, once you get the 3 month visa it becomes 'easier' after that - there is a lot of paperwork required and it is very important that you more than follow the requirements - the one way to get your application dealt with is to make it easy for the person approving it. In other words, they don't have to follow up missing paperwork so they put it on the top of the pile.

Final piece of advice - take your gf to a Thai temple when a festival or something is on when she gets here. Good way for her to make Thai friends and that is an absolute must because it will stave off the homesickness.

Cheers
