Planet watchers to get a treat

Stargazers and planet watchers will see the planets Venus and Jupiter across Thai skies early on Nov 5.

The two planets will be visible at the same time to the naked eye at 3.50am on Nov 5, said Voravit Tanwutbandit, adviser to the Thai Astronomical Society.

Venus and Jupiter will emerge from the eastern sky on that day.

To view them, planet watchers should face east where they will see Venus on the left of Virgo and Jupiter on the right side of it.

Mr Voravit said the two planets will move closer to each other at 8.45 am local time.

Paikaew Witthaya School in Chachoengsao's Plaeng Yao district would hold a science camp on the two planets so students and other interested people could have deeper understanding of the phenomenon. :o

Whilst Virgin's Richard Branson can still only dream of flying the ordinary man to the edge of space, it appears that Thailand has already conquered the problem.

It is an admirable to idea to allow people to “have a deeper understanding of the problem”. It is a pity that the writer did not “have a deeper understanding” of the English language.

Is the Science Camp “on the subject” of the two planets, or simply “about” them ?
