NES English teacher in Thailand

Featured Replies

Good morning

I'm a British NES, teaching in Thailand for 2 years, now looking to relocate into BKK or nearby

My degree is legalised, and I have my TEFL, I'm passionate about inspiring children to learn English. I believe that creating engaging and fun lessons is key to inspiring children to learn another language. Please request my CV or any other documents through email

Kind regards

Good luck. Try Siam Computer, they usually have openings. Stay away from agents.

Hey, what's Siam Computer?

It's an IT and language school and also a teacher placement agency. Back in the days when I was teaching it didn't have the best reputation due to low wages and high turnover. Google it and also try Ajarn.com and th.jobsdb.com for teaching jobs.

100%, but a lot of employers also seem to just be looking for Caucasian, regardless if you're NES or not. I think I've got no choice but to go home and do a PGCE to get any kind of edge in this game.

Website exists with most of the teacher openings Ajarn.com.

NES and "My degree is legalised, and I have my TEFL".

You meet the requirements of most TEFL type schools.

International schools are a different story.

Sending out your info on the internet costs nothing.

Why not send out a few dozen apps?

Yes and no. Many schools these days try to pay the absolute minimum. Which usually. means employing non-native speakers. I would say overall, they dominate the teaching market, outside of the better private and international schoolsm, who mostly employ qualified native speakers, regardless of ethnicity.

Definitely a good idea is to return home, do your teaching qualification, get homeland teaching experience, then look for a position in an international school. For the best schools, its highly desirable to have home country teaching experience (not just a pgce, though this is still reguired).

So, you're teaching Neuro-Electric-Stimulation in Thailand? Interesting.

Can I have more details, please?

I see, but I'm with you on returning home to do the pgce, needed for international schools. Also I finally landed a new job, just gotta deal with the visa problems now that come with that
