Php Web Hosting In Thailand (technical Question)

Featured Replies

Hi

I need to run a web application (called vTiger) on a server in Thailand, but this app is very picky about its environment settings and I need to be able to have my own php.ini file to edit.

Does anyone know of a good hosting company which caters for this? They need to be running PHP in CGI mode so that I can configure it exactly as required.

Thanks a lot.

Hi

I've now found a hosting company called Porar based in Bangkok which apparently offers what I need. Does anyone have any experience in using this host? Are they any good? I once used their ThaiEPay online credit card payments service but wasn't too impressed (they claimed to process Mastercards but this option was always down in practice).

Any advice or opinions about this company would be gratefully received.

Cheers

Nick

Nobody seems to like Thai webhosts. And the dealing with Thais . . . .

Why not try http://malaysiahosting2u.com/. Fast, nearby, English spoken, and seem to offer good low-level service (no Control Panel).

I wouldn't go for Thai hosting as well. They are in now way up to international standards when it comes to service and are overpriced for what they offer. vTiger is a good system and I can recommend it. I understand that if you want to run it in Thailand for a company though that you want to have the best speed possible though.

Thanks for the comments.

Do you think if the site were hosted in, say, Malaysia or Singapore, the downlaod speed would be the same for Thai users as if it were hosted in Thailand?

Cheers

Nick

Overseas is always a bit slower thanks to the CAT and limited international bandwidth. This forum is hosted in Singapore if I remember this right. International speed will always be way slower.

The thing you should mention is that vTiger is a CRM system that you will use for all sorts of stuff and as data storage. In your case I would really try to find a Thai host if you will use it a lot.

My suggestion is try to find a relatively big and established Thai hosting company and try to get a deal for a unmanaged server (they can't screw that up). Then have a look around for server admins who charge a weekly or monthly fee to take care of your server. They can configure everything and help you out. So this way you don't have to rely on the Thai service and the only thing the hosting company can screw up is disconnecting the server but this probably won't happen too often.

This would be the the setup I would go for. Please report back what you did and share your experiences. I consider using vTiger for an upcoming project as well (but I might just run it on a local LAN server).
