My girlfriend is from Laos. She's just finished her 60 day visa and extended it for another 30 days in Bangkok. Next month she has to go back to Savannakhet. Has she got any chance of getting a 2nd tourist visa?

Any help would be appreciated, as we have a 2 year old daughter and really want to keep the family together.

Although Savannakhet is not friendly to repeated visa issue for third country nationals would expect them to issue to a Lao citizen.

You are aware that Laos has 30 day visa exempt entry without any limit (not subject to the 90 days in a six month period of most other countries). So if the visa is not issued she can return for 30 day stay as many times as she wants.

My girlfriend is also Lao and I can confirm what Lopburi said, Lao citizens are entitled to unlimited 30 day stamps, the only problem is you have to do a border run to get one, but it can be any border.

Does she have to pay the 1000b at the embassy or is it free same as us on the bridge?

Anothe problem is she can't write do you know where I can get the Savannakhet consulate forms and the one she would have to fill out on the bridge, so I can fill them out for her to copy when she's there.

The visa exempt entry is the same as anyone else - just the normal arrival card needs to be filled out and I suspect it is possible to pay a few baht to have it filled out as in most crossings. Don't know if Savannakhet forms are online or not but am sure there are people filling out the forms there also.
