Maxnet Adsl Problems

Featured Replies

Hi,

I am experiencing a lot of problems with my connection.

The line fails then takes a lot of time to restart, and again ...

I read, on the router the following info :

Downstream Upstream

SNR Margin : 6.3 9.0 db

Line Attenuation : 48.0 30.3 db

Data Rate : 1024 928 kbps

From what I read, the 6.3dB Margin is too low, and this shows a line problem, am I correct ?

6.3 downstream SNR is very very low. 48dB attenuation is quite high as well.

Same for the upload.

I guess these values will differ throughout the day, but there are clearly not enough error-free frequencies available on the copper line to run a reliable adsl connection.

Make notes of these values over a period of time and contact your ISP. They'll probably send an engineer who does 1 test. If the engineer has some knowledge, he'll understand that changing the line (check the connections / re-run the line away from from transformers / install a new line) is the way to go.

But do check your own line first: from the place where the black outdoor phoneline is connected to your house all the way to your adsl modem. Use a new cable from that point to your modem and see if there's a difference. If not, the telephone company is the only one who can solve this.

Thanks !

The problem was located at the junction between the house and the external cable.

Maybe it was attacked by birds, the insulation was stripped off ...

Now the SNR Margin is (back) to 21dB, a "little" better :o
