U.k. Visa

Featured Replies

My Thai girlfriend and I live in Vientiane, have done for the past year. last time I applied for a visa for her I was living in B'kok went through an agency who wanted to the know the colour of my jocks, and it cost me an arm and a leg.

We went twice last year on her 6months multiple entry visa.

Now I want to apply again, same circumstances, just a tourist visa for a holiday.I'm the one who will sponser her, no problem last time have good job money in bank etc.

Plan to go in August and will go to B'kok beginning of July. Now is it straightforward 2nd time around or is it still advisable to go through an agency?

Providing she abided by the conditions of the visa last time, the process should be relatively straightforward. The only word of warning is how long of the six months did she stay in the UK and when applying for the visa, did she state that she would visit twice?

yes she abided by the terms of the visa, but both trips were for holidays, so she only stayed in total 4 weeks. The 2nd trip was not planned so not stated on the original application. When you say straightforward, that means just going through the visa agency for the British embassy near Lumphini park, with just a sponsorship letter and proof of finances i.e. 6 months bank statements, or do we need the full monty like the agency asked us for.

I don't live in U.K. anymore so it's my daughters address I use. I suppose a letter of invitation from her would be neede as well.

You'll need to demonstrate that there is again adequate maintenance and accommodation for your wife in the UK and that she intends to leave the UK at the end of the trip. As she has already shown her trustworthiness in the latter respect, that she intends to leave should be pretty much taken as read.

The application is made to the visa application centre at Regent House in Bangkok.

No problem with the maintenance and accomodation, it will be the same as before. I won't bother with an agency then, as I'm pretty familiar with what they want, and I'll make sure that I have i's and t's crossed. But I know they are tightening up and wondered if anyone had reapplied recently.

Thanks for the input Scouse, if your in Laos ever, I'll buy you a beer, much cheaper than Thailand.

As she has been before and presumably abided to her visa conditions the path should be easier provided she meets the necessary criteria.

Do you have a copies of the information you provided last time around? If so check if there has been any changes to the visas requirements and make whatever adjustments accordingly. If as appears the case, you already have a winning formula why change it?

Save the Agents fee and do it yourself.

Good Luck
