I'm considering getting the Retirement Visa, which I believe I qualify for in a few months time. If I get that, can I enter and leave Thailand as much as I want?

I'm not sure if that visa requires the 90 day reporting. If so, if I'm exiting and re-entering Thailand more often than that, do I not need to worry about that?

thanks in advance!

OOOPS, i put this in the wrong topic, should be under VISAS. Sorry!

You can come and go as much as you want although I think that you will need to get a re-entry permit every time that you wish to leave the country. This is form TM. 8 otherwise it will invalidate your visa.

The visa requires that you report your address every 90 days form TM. 47 though if you leave the country before each 90 days I believe the 90 days will recommence from the date that you re-enter Thailand.

This is correct - But you can get a multiple re-entry permit allowing you to come and go as often as you need to.

Also, make sure you check the date on your entry 'stamp' each time you re-enter Thailand. Sometimes they get it wrong and it's another trip to the airport or immigration to get it corrected.

Yes you do need to do the 90 day address reporting.

The 90 days start counting from the day you receive your first 1 year extension.

They will put a paper slip in your passport with the date on which you'll need to do the next report.

You have a window of 14 days to do your report (7 days before the due date till 7 days after the due date).

You can get a multiple re-entry permit (3800 Baht) which allows you to leave and enter Thailand as many times as you wish.

If you leave Thailand before your reporting date, you can then disregard the date on that slip in your passport.

Your next report will have to be done 90 days after you re-enter Thailand. You'll have to calculate this date yourself, they will not put in a new reminder slip in your passport when you re-enter!

AS mentioned before, don't worry on the exact date too much, you have that 14 day window to report!

1. 90 day reporting is based on stay of more than 90 days in Thailand - it could be on a one year long stay OA visa entry or, more common, an extension of stay. An OA visa you obtain in your country of residence - a retirement extension of stay from Immigration (it is not a visa). So if you do not stay longer than 90 days you do not have to report.

2. You can freely travel on a multi entry visa - on an extension of stay you require a re-entry permit to keep that extension of stay alive.
