In accordance with Muslim traditions, a circumcision ceremony took place for children aged between 1 and 3 years at the Yamee-oon Islam Mosque located in Central Pattaya.

Khun Mai, the Mayor of Nongprue Municipality was guest of honor at the event which saw many children endure the painful ceremony which is an important part of Muslim Culture.

Male circumcision existed before the birth of the Prophet Mohammed and this custom is religiously practiced by Muslims as a precedent of the Prophet, which is called the “Sunnah”.

Every Muslim is expected to follow the way of life of Prophet Mohammed. Therefore, all Muslims - devouts, liberals or seculars - observe this ritual.
