This is the reason I haven't bought a cat or dog in Thailand. In England we have catteries and dog kennels, but who is going to look after the pet if I'm away travelling or visiting home? Actually, I did feed the neighbours' dog while they were away for a couple of weeks, but I would really worry if I had a pet. Best of luck finding someone.
bratpack Posted June 19, 2008 Posted June 19, 2008 We finished up with 4 cats and i dont realy know if they would take to another one.Must admit though i do like cats now, before i hated them.

This is what you do: The reality is that you are not going to find a family to take care of the cat at short notice. Make an over the top offer of payment to one of your neighbours, Thai or otherwise, to care for the cat in it`s own home. If you really want to guarantee the cat`s welfare, pay about 2500 baht per month, that`s 7500 baht in total. You`re do it if you love the cat. The carer has no need to stay in your apartment, only pop in every few hours to take care of business. Spend a few hours showing the carer how to look after the cat, it`s feed, water, when to let it out and let it in. Ensure to buy the food supplies before you leave. Pay the carer half the amount on the day you leave for Europe and promise to pay the other half when you return. So, what are hanging about for? Do it now.

submaniac Posted June 20, 2008 Posted June 20, 2008 Why don't you take the cat on the plane with you? I have taken my dog to and from the United States into Thailand without a problem. I know the cat was obtained from Thailand, but for my dog, nobody every checked any paperwork on immunization or anything else.

If you post a location, maybe someone can help you out.
Scott Posted June 20, 2008 Posted June 20, 2008 Yes, you need to post your location and also you might want to post your needs in the appropriate local forum--Bangkok, Chiang Mai etc. Also, the Pets forum is the best place. I would love to help you, but I will be leaving soon as well and fortunately have someone to stay with my 3 cats and the dog. Ignore the not nice posts. I think that people forget that in the midst of a crisis a lot of people do take the care of their pets as important. Best of luck to you.
Priceless Posted June 20, 2008 Posted June 20, 2008 Why don't you take the cat on the plane with you? I have taken my dog to and from the United States into Thailand without a problem. I know the cat was obtained from Thailand, but for my dog, nobody every checked any paperwork on immunization or anything else. Europe (assuming the EU) is not the US. The EU has very strict rules concerning import of animals, especially from "third countries" of which Thailand is one. Trying to import the cat to Europe could well mean that it would have to spend three months in quarantine, which means cage, which is what the OP wanted to avoid. / Priceless
sbk Posted June 20, 2008 Posted June 20, 2008 Just had the OP on the phone. The cat sitter is looked for in the area between Hua Hin and Bangkok. Anybody out there who is willing to help out? Nienke
Sheryl Posted June 22, 2008 Posted June 22, 2008 Could try Pet Paradise. Not sure what their arrangements are for cats but for dogs it is quite nice. they have a website. Also have heard people mention Ozono in Bangkok, again I dont know the details.
