Hi

I have a 60 days double entry tourist visa that I got in Sydney that expired on the June 20th (today)

As I understand I should be able to extend this by 30 days by going to an immigration office, fill out a form and pay another 1900 baht.

However someone today told me that in Pattaya (Jomtien) they will only grant you 7 days extension. Does anyone know if this is true?

In that case I will need to a border run to Cambodia ASAP. True?

Thanks for any prompt replies as I will have to sort this out tomorrow.

There's a lot of confusion here.

You posted this on June 21, and you said your tourist visa expires on June 20th which is not today, but yesterday.

I've never heard of a 60 day double entry tourist visa. Most from Australia are double entry tourist visas valid for 6 months. If not, they are at least valid for 3 months.

Are you talking about your entry stamp which gives you 60 days that expired yesterday? If so, you may be able to get a late extension, but I've never attempted to extend it after it expired.

Jomtien will almost always give a 30 day extension. I got one myself there a few days ago. At one stage they were asking to see air tickets or proof of onward travel. They had a good look at the air ticket we brought along for my GF because she has a lot of stamps and visas in her passport. I always bring one along just in case.

As his stay seems to have expired and he is now on overstay he may only get 7 days plus a fine.

He may be lucky and get the full 30 days.

Only one way to find out.

Thanks for your replies guys.

Didnt realize it was past midnight so yes I have overstayed with one day.

Tropo, you are right I am referring to the entry stamp duration.

Went to the immigration office today and of course they are closed on the weekend so I will have to wait till Monday and pay the fine of 3 days overstay.

Lets see if they give me 30 days extension or punish me with just 7 days. In that case I will have to do a visa run to Cambodia to sort of the last month of my stay.

Will keep you posted on the result of overstaying tourist visa and the effect on extension days.

Thanks again

Without specifically having a dig at you. Why don't people go and extend a few days early? Then they are safe.

You do not lose any days by doing this.

Lite beer, simple answer, because I am a lazy unorganized person who pay the prize for this in different ways. This time with a few thousand baht & possibly a day on a bus to Cambodia.

Who knows, maybe I learn something from this. Probably not...

As far as I know you can't pay the overstay fine at immigration. If they don't give you a 7 or 30 day extension starting from June 20, you'll have to do a border run and pay the fine at the border.

I usually get my extensions a week early. It's better to go mid week in the afternoon because that the quietest time of the week down at Jomtien.
