No problems with Google.

Just went into it one minute ago from here in Chiang Mai.

Google is out for me on 3 out of 4 machines for 2 days now. why would some machines work and others not from the same location?

Possibly unreliable DNS servers. Try OpenDNS. Fast. Free. Reliable.

If three of four computers work, it isn't the Internet/Google or whatsoever but the system!

If everything was working a few days ago, the first step is to check and compare the setting with the working computer. If there isn't a difference, I would check the NIC of the computers without connection. Just start a ping on the working computer to one Website and than the same ping from an not working computer to the same site and compare the results. Do that whit all computers but let the first one running at full time.

Now, if you have, just place a new NIC in one of the non working computer and check you can connect.

From my point of view it sound's like that the NIC have a problem or your computers are infected.

Cheers.

Google went out on me at around 11pm Sat night but returned late Sunday night. Oh Gmail was out too but that has returned also :o

Similar problem here. Google either loads very slowly or not at all. I'm not seeing a similar situation with Yahoo search, or with any other sites for that matter. I am using OpenDNS.

Here is an interesting detail: when I connect to my company's VPN, Google loads just as quickly as ever. So something must be happening with the ISP here (maybe their proxy?). Or is something funnier going on?

Have you tried clearing your PC's local cache?

DNS issues can cause delays in a page popping up, Open DNS is a good solution.

By using the IP address directly you can avoid DNS look up delays...

This link refers to Google's home page IP address, http://64.233.189.99

....it should pop up from you at once.

Not sure what you mean by "PC cache". This certainly isn't a browser cache issue. I use a Mac and the TCP/IP stack is cleared every time the machine restarts, so that's not the problem. Neither of these would be issues when the situation is that I can't load Google, and then after I make a VPN connection it loads.

Also, it wouldn't be a DNS lookup problem since as mentioned in the earlier post, much of the time Google does load, albeit slowly. Slow DNS lookup would just cause a lag between requesting a page and then seeing it start loading (at a normal speed).

I'm still puzzled, unless for some reason the ISP or someone else is fiddling around with Google traffic. "They" wouldn't be able to do that with a VPN connection enabled.
