Cheapest Options - Bangkok Sydney Return

Featured Replies

Hi all

Im flying to Oz for the first time in a week or two. Having never flown there before, i have no clue where to look and a Google search brings up a whole host of affiliate links.

I did check out Jet Star... They seem to be full for months ahead but i was suprised at the prices indicated; circa 40,000 TB return. Wow. I fly to England and back for less than that every few months and that three times the distance?

Any pointers? Im hoping for the cheapest options.

Many thanks!

Not sure if your middle east carriers go (Etihad, Emirates, etc.) but you might do better to take a short hop flight first to malaysia or Singapore (sometimes). I used to have it in my head at about 20k for a return trip but with fuel through the roof and lower capacity I could not be certain for anything under your 40k.

By the way, you'll be lucky to get under 40k to the UK anytime before October.

With low cost carriers the cheapest tickets are always taken up early so if you're flying in a week or 2 chances are the tickets that are available will cost more than those on the national carriers. I find the cheapest tickets are on Singapore Airlanes or Emirates and if you're flying in this short timeframe the best deals you can get will probably be through travel agents. Just look in the classified sections of the Bangkok Post or The Nation newspapers to see what deals they have. The current prices for a return ticket should be around 30,000 THB including taxes.

Should find one for this period for about 26k return.

Can't recall where but i saw BKK - SYD return, flying Cathay for 25k (tax inc.) flying out before 31 July, 2008

Has anyone flown Jet Star, are they any good?

I'm flying to Singapore next week.

Sorry a bit off topic :o
