No Visa Type For Me?

Featured Replies

I am a 31 years old married guy, who makes some money back his own country but like to live in Bangkok. I dont need a work permit here at all, as i already make enough money back.

Now, since a year, both my wife and I live here without any problems at all, on 60 days single entry tourist visas followed by a short visa run for additional 30 days. So as long as we are able to get these tourist visas (which is quite easy for us, as i can even do it by sending the passports back by DHL) we will never exceed the 90 days limit. Even we like to travel around South East Asia region, it is still a hassle since we do the visa run on a purpose other than our wish.

Considering the avarage tourist, we are spending quite a lot of money here in Thailand and happy with that as long as we keep enjoying the life in Bangkok. But i am not interested in bringing some money here to invest for just visa purpose.

I was wondering if there is any way we can get a resident visa here or any other type of visa just to avoid all these hassles.

Where are you sending your passport from? Do you cross over to Malaysia and post from there? If you post your passport from within Thailand to a Thai embassy abroad, this is illegal and your visa application should be refused.

Permanent Residency is not available in your case as you are not working and paying tax in Thailand.

If you return to Europe at least once a year, you could apply for the multi-entry non-imm O visa which allows stays of up to 90 days per time for a potential of 15 months.

There is no possibility for you to stay on in Thailand for longer periods. However you say you are here on a 60 day tourist visa. You can extend your stay by 30 days at an immigration office, without having to leave the country but paying 1900 baht for the extension. Since you state single entry visa I presume you already know about multiple entry visas.
