Validity Of 60 Day Tourist Visa ?

Featured Replies

Hi there,

Happy that the travel agency can arrange our visa, so we don't have to go there in person, the man said that it's better to apply 15 days prior to departure because the date of issue from the Consulate is the date it starts counting ?

Now I've read somewhere on this forum that it starts counting from the day you arrive, and that you have 2 months time to start using your visa? ( somewhere means i can't remember where, getting old i guess )

So, pls help me out and tel me who's right.

Thanks

From the day of issuing, you have 2 months to come to Thailand and make use of the visa. That is not the same as that the 60 days will start. The 60 days will start when you arrive, but you have to arrive within 2 months.

You should have three months from date of issue to use a single entry visa. You receive a 60 day stay (for your nationality) on arrival and can extend that stay another 30 days on a tourist visa entry.

Visas have 2 aspects - Validity - the period during which you can USE them to ARRIVE

which has been said is 3 months for a Thai Tourist Visa

And secondly the amount of stay the holder will be granted on arrival - which for you is 60 days.

I have repeated the above to make the point that knowing you are in India - The Validity and stay of

an Indian Tourist Visa are the SAME (both are usually 6 months) - maybe that is where some

confusion might have arisen. This means if you do get an Indian Tourist Visa early - you do lose some days of stay.

Another thing you might hear in India - Thai Tourist Visas are valid for a stay of only 30 days for Indian Passport Holders.

Hope these points are of help.
