Can anyone tell me what i need to give the British embassy to prove an income? And how many different ways are there of doing this?

I have looked at thier website and it says just bankstatements or other documents. What are other documents?

I have e-mailed them but had no reply.

Thanx

What are other documents?

I thought it would be obvious what "other" documents are. What documentary evidence do you have of an income? letter from your pension company? statement from your stockbroker? Annual Accounts from your accountant on your investment income? the list is endless and if you are really struggling go down to immigration in Jomtien any weekday between 9 - 10 am and the British Consul is available to answer questions & give advice. He normally sits in the coffee shop by the main entrance.

P60s would do nicely as these are a record of your income and tax paid for a year. Both of my pension providers issue these, round about May each year. If you are not of pensionable age (50 + years as far as Thailand is concerned) you should still be able to get a P60, even if you are not employed in the UK - provided that HMG has some interest in where your money is coming from and whether it is subject to UK tax. If you are employed by a non-UK company or receive a pension that does not originate from the UK you should still be able to get an equivalent document.

The UK Embassy, by the way, will take the gross income figure and will provide a document for Thai Immigration that reflects this figure, which is nice as it gives you a bit of headroom if the Baht gets too strong and the effective value of your income, in Thailand, decreases.

Might be useful, by the way, if you told us what sort of visa or extension you are trying to get.

Last year I only had a couple of days to get the documents together. I printed a couple of statements from internet banking on a very dodgy printer, so they didn't look very professional and which were effectively duplicates. It was all I could manage due to the time constraints.

I used a highlighting pen to underline/highlight the monthly income from a rental property which couldn't really be confirmed other than it was the same amount every month, and also highlighted a dividend payment and was able to print off a 'dividend Tax voucher' via the internet so they could cross-reference.

I was a bit worried that it wouldn't be enough but it was no problem. They asked wether I wanted a letter giving a yearly income or monthly income.

This was in Chiang Mai; I got the impression that as long as you can show the required income which can be from several different sources if you have to scrape around like i did; it wouldn't be a problem. They are not trying to catch us out or anything or that was my impression.

If you can only get Bank statements I suspect you'll be ok.

There was the fee ofcourse which is a bit steep in my opinion ;-)
