Hope someone can help.

I have a 17" lcd monitor - ProVision - which I bought 3.5 years ago.

Recently, after turning it off at night (but leaving the computer running to download movies), I get up in the morning and turn it on and move the mouse to get the computer out of screen saver mode.

After 1 sec. it goes off, but the power light shows a solid green. I have tried the following:

1) If I turn it off/on for a while - still have the same problem.

2) If I unplug/plug in the video cable from the video card for a while, same problem.

3) If I turn the monitor on, move the mouse to get the computer out of screen saver mode and wait 5 minutes; then unplug the video cable and plug it back in, the monitor works.

I am not sure if it is the monitor or the video card.

Any ideas?

Gary

Don't turn off the monitor! The monitor will go to sleeping mode after some time and will come back if you move the mouse.

I've the same problem on an Acer LCD. If I switch off the monitor and leave the computer running, I can't get the monitor back to display the picture. If I don't turn off the monitor but let them get to sleep everything is fine.

Cheers.
