In relation to the complaints and some of the comments to deal with cold calls, it may interest you to know that some companies have a special list of difficult and dead end prospects that are regularly used by new assistants, secretaries and sales people to cut their teeth with. By being difficult, rude and obnoxious you may be inadvertently subjecting yourself to further inexperienced persons to annoy you.

You get what you give some say.

Seems fair to me.

One idea is to ask them for their name and the name of the firm. Then tell them to put you on their "Do Not Call List" which the Thai SEC requires all firms to maintain. Let them know that if anyone from their firm calls you again, you'll report them.

Since the firm cold-calling you is probably operating illegally in Thailand, it's unlikely anyone from that firm will try to reach you again. If they do, go ahead and report them.

Love the topic.

I get frustrated when these guys waste my time but I let them do their pitch. Being familiar with sales techniques I push them to perform at the top of their game. If they make one slip, I close them and they apologise and hang up... It's great. If you get a super salesman learn from them. Whether you are a street vendor or a CEO you need sales skills. These guys are eating St from us hanging up on them every day. If anyone is going to be a great salesman it's going to be one of them.

If they're really good.... offer them a job working for you!

How about this as a follow-up. Who on TV has used these services from these guys and is / was happy with their investments?

profitable plots, profitable group (land investments) are endorsed by happy chaps on espn star bu im not sure of their sales and marketing appraoach.

To the poster who said salespeople not needed, he probably works for an NGO and has not got a clue about money and business. Does he think if there were 2 car showrooms and 1 with brochures and an order form and one with a well informed, well presented and professional salesperson, which showroom does he think would make most money.

Now how about if he has some money he was looking to invest and a professional salesperson happened to call him offering their services and got "lucky" to speak woth him and because he knew his product, suggested he invest in the showroom with the salesperson which imho would far outperform the brochure and order form showroom, would he object to the great percentage return he obtained.

That said, a professional company should keep records and at leasrt not plague people who have plainly declined their services.

On a last note about "always knowing that you need to buy something"...tell that to someone who has no critical illness cover (i can guarantee the poster wont have it and unfortuantely contracts something that prevents him her from working and leaves kids and family in sH(( street because he id not even know about such a product an irresponsible person who could have used the aforementioned financial services. Though I am not defending dodgy boiler rooms!

After receiving my 150th + call from a financial advisor several years ago, I told him that at the end of the month I have no money left over after spending it all on hookers and beer. There was a long silence at the other end (probably shuffling through his list of difficult responses and not finding that one) and then he came back with "at least your honest!"
