Western Herbs And Spices

Featured Replies

A friend showed me a new place to buy spices while I was in BKK. It's the Spice Story, in Siam Paragon, right next to the gourmet food/grocery section. This place has a large selection of both Thai and western seasonings, and the prices are a fraction of what I have paid for much smaller containers at Villa and Freshmart. I got 90 grams of Celery seed, 80 grams of red onion powder, 60 grams of coriander seed powder, 40 grams of dill, and 30 grams of sage leaves, for a total of about 300 baht. These are all containers about 6 inches tall and an inch and a half in diameter, so they hold several times the contents of the imported spice bottles. They also cost less. Rosemary, thyme, parsley, etc. are all there.

I also saw dried and powdered galangal, powdered coriander (pak chee) roots, and assorted curry powders, including masala. It's worth the trip to Siam Paragon just to check this place out. It's small, but packed with goodness!
