Hihi

Can anyone tell me if the below is correct.

Suppose I say I come to Thailand for the first time.

Maa Kraung Raek

But how abt second or third time? i checked the dictionary and

second=tee song

third=tee sam

.....

Then if i wan to say that im in Thailand for the second time, can i say

Kraung tee song?

Thanks VM!

Yep, you are correct about the word order. :o

ครั้งนี้เป็นครั้งที่สอง or ครั้งนี้คือครั้งที่สอง

[H]khrang [H]nii bpen/khue [H]khrang [F]thii [RL]sawng = This is the second time.

As for the translateration, it is more commonly rendered as 'krang' or 'khrang'. The tone is high, and that is often indicated like this - kráng, but also as [H]krang. The vowel length in some systems is shown by a single symbol for a short vowel, and a double symbol for a long vowel. Other systems use a : after the vowel to indicate a long sound, and the one we once tried to device here would indicate long vowel with an [L] after the tone designation where necessary.

You may already know this, but for those who don't: Both tone and vowel length are crucial aspects of Thai pronunciation. Anyone who is learning should pay attention to memorize these when learning a new word.

i agree with ms in with his explanation, khrang nii ben khrang thii song, this (time)is the second time, however, the way i usually hear it spoken is, phom maa muang thai song khrang laew.

dont want to confuse the issue, just offering an alternative, any guidance as usual will be appreciated.
