Non-o Laos Visa Run

Featured Replies

Hi

I am married to my Thai wife and I have got non-o visa from Australia. I have been here almost 3 months. Even though, I have got a year visa, I've got a 90 days stampt when I arrived here. My question is if I have to do a visa run ( which I plan to cross the border to Laos) or if I only do a 90-day-report at Nongkai immigration. Please help because my visa will be expired on July27th. If I have to cross the border, what would I need to bring with me and how would I do the visa run? Thanks so much for your help

As it stands, if you do have a one year multiple entry non o visa, you will have to make a border run. Provided you have not exceeded your 'Enter Before' date on the visa, then you just need to take your passport, cross the border then come straight back to Thailand; You will get another 90 day entry stamp.

As you are married to a Thai, you may be eligible to apply for an 'Extension of Permission to Stay' where your passport can be stamped by your local immigration. Many people call this process a 'Visa Extension'. But you need to apply some time before your latest entry stamp expires (normally can be up to 4 weeks before). You may have left it too late this time.

Check this link for details of the paperwork required for an extension of per mission to stay, you would apply under section 7.17

It would appear that you have a Non Imm O Multi Entry.

Every 90 days you have to leave the country and come back again. If you make your final exit and entry the day before your Visa expires you will get another 90 days , thus giving you a total of 15 months.

If you are crossing into Laos you will need a Laos Visa . Cost around 1,500 Baht and can be obtained at the border. Take some passport size photos for the Laos Visa.

All you do is go across and come straight back again.

Thanks for your answer. I still wonder if I did a visa extention, how many they would stamp it for me this time? Is there any way that I can remain in the country without going for the visa run or visa extenion. By the way, I have muti entry non-o visa.

You can get a years extension inside Thailand if you or your Wife, or both together can prove a monthly income of at least 40,000 Baht.

The Visa run would always give you another 90 day stamp.

There is no requirement to do this any amount of time early so if you can meet the requirements you can make application - it will be under review for a month before final extension is made. Address reports would then be required (starting 90 days after application for extension of stay).

Tax documents would be required for proof of local income and Embassy letter for foreign and a shopping list of items - but if you have the financial requirements you are 99% there so worth checking.
