True- Adsl Unable To Connect To Us Server- Does Anybody Know Abt This Prob ?

Featured Replies

Hiya,

just got my TRUE ADSL- line some 2 months ago.

What is remarkable is that at some point, connections to US servers fail greatly.

After calling customer support, I was explained that the problem is not related to TRUE, but to the insufficient bandwidth of the lines linking LOS with the US.

Does anybody ever had this problem ?

What is more important: Is there any resolution, (e.g. moving to another ISP) ?

Its not just your ISP.

I have to use TOT due to my location in Rayong. The other service providers (oxymoron) TT&T and True do not have broadband in my location. I was trying to get a True service, but might consider again, now

The service from TOT is crap, and slows down to a crawl around mid-afternoon. Stuff like youtube is a no-no on this ISP(ha), and they seem either to be trying to block information (rather than actually providing it; TIT), or just inept. Probably the latter.

Well, its disillusioning to learn that other users experience the same ordeal like me.

But as I live in Prakanong, Bangkok (by far not a rural area) I expected a more professional service.

A technician of TRUE even told me that its just bad luck to live on the 19th floor, as the length of the cable wud prevent me from getting a better signal. My 2500 kbps line might be reduced to just 2200 kbps. WHAT A JOKE.

Most time of the day (and night), Im unable to access sites like paypal, preventing me from working efficiently.

At most time throughout the day, I get a download speed of no more than 500 kbps.

I rilly wud like to see the faces of the TRUE staff, if I only paid 20% of the internet bill.

Upgrade to 4 MB. I am not joking.

Thats what I initial wanted.

But the friendly staff of TRUE at Seacon Square told me that 2500 kbps is the most they can offer for my location.

Could you explain this?

Unless True has done some very interesting traffic shaping/routing, there is no reason why your connection speed out of Thailand should increase noticeably by going to 4 Mbit. The problem we all face here is that there are way too many people fighting over the same bandwidth. Consider it the same as if you upgraded your connection from your computer to your DSL model to 1 Gbit connection. Would that make your internet connection any faster? :o

You get exactly the speed you pay for: min. 0 bps til max. 2,560 kbps if you read the details of your contract! There isn't any guaranty on public shared accounts of any of the Thai ISP's! Even Leased Lines are guaranted for the "bought" speed from the subscriber to the ISP but not further.

Any way for me and on my connection with TRUE 2,560/512 I can access all sites without problem. Same applies for TOT 1 Mbps lines.

So the comment for to up to 4 Mbps will brings a lot but NOTHING!

Cheers.

I suggest that you try connecting via a proxy in Australia. The international connection speeds between Thailand and Australia generally seem to be pretty good, and you can often get a faster connection to US-based sites by going indirectly that way.

I kind of did that once. I went in and asked to be put on a slower package that was more in line with my 'observed speed'. They warned me that this might slow my international speed further, and I warned them that I would disconnect it if that happened! Result: I saved a bit of money, and didn't notice any decrease in speed.

So if your connection sucks, I don't know that buying a 'faster' package will necessarily help, unless you move to a different class of package (like a business one allegedly with a lower sharing ratio or something). And even then I'm not sure if it will help because as far as I can tell there's no regulatory oversight of ISP activities worth mentioning. They are selling bandwidth they don't got, and the fine print covers their behinds.

I'm suprised none of the ISPs have launched gig-range packages, perhaps their marketing people do have some shame after all.
