ClaudeFeller
I need some info about Electricity on Koh Chang: Is the grid reliable? How much is it per unit? The same 3-4 THB/kWh like allover Thailand? Is there a public grid along Klong Son in the interior valley of the island? THX for helpful answers, Claude
Changian
Yes there is electricity on Koh Chang and it costs pretty much the same as elsewhere in the country. My last bill was just under 3.5 Baht/Unit It's pretty reliable where we are in Klong Prao, occasionally goes off if there is a storm or a tree falls on the lines in the rainy season. But usually fixed quickly. The PEA office is in Klong Son. There are electric lines heading into the valley past the elephant camp, hardly a grid but it does the job. No problem to hook up electric for a house there if you live near the road. If you want to be further from the road then you'd need to put your own poles / line in.
