Hi

Living in thailand for more than 2 years with tourist visas and border runs, my girl-friend and I got married last week.

I heard it's possible to "change visa type" from still valid tourist visa to a non-O married visa.

I am french, living in BKK, not too far from suan pluu....

Any advice or experience would be welcome.

Thanks

Can you meet the 40k per month family income extension of stay requirement? If you can and have 21 days or more remaining on your entry stamp a single entry 90 day non immigrant entry can be obtained for 2,000 baht. If not you have other options.

A one time 60 day extension of stay is available for 1,900 baht.

A single entry non immigrant O visa is available at most consulates and at some a multi entry valid for one year of 90 day stays.

Thanks Lopburi.

We do have together more than 40k/month. I don't have 21 days left on my second and last entry of my tourist visa, but should be able to get the 30 days usual extension.

in suan pluu? do we need anything special?

I guess it will be the next step :o and so, to find where. without doing the long trip back to france!

If there are tax records and/or Embassy letter of income available you can obtain the 30 day extension and then make the change of visa application at Immigration. 60 days or so later you would do the extension of stay for one year.

You can obtain the 60 day extension at Immigration but the visas (not for extension) would have to come from overseas at a consulate, KL currently being the best bet for multi entry. For that you would take marriage certificate/copy, copy of wife id card (or passport), copy of wife home register book. Be best to also have short note asking for visa to be issued to you signed/dated by her and a bank passbook to show that you have funds to support your stay (if more than single entry visa).
