Hi Guys

A question about how Tracking Cookies are handled by various Anti-virus / Anti-spyware programs.

My system has three protection programs runing - AVG 8.0, SpyBot S&D 1.6 and Adaware SE Pro 1.06. I've been using the Pro version of Adaware primarily because of its ability to deal with tracking cookies 'on the fly' and since I've been using it I've never had any of these on the system. Now, the new version of AVG, which I've recently installed, also claims to be able to deal with tracking cookies and additionally SpyBot S&D has a resident program, Tea Timer, running.

I'm not sure what Tea Timer does with cookies, if anything, but the other two programs are each checking for these tracking cookies in real time, or so they claim. The question really is will there be any problem with both AVG and Adaware running their real-time protection programs simultaneously? Are there likely to be conflicts or will the operation of these programs be compromised in some way? Anyone have any thoughts on this?

Everything seems to be working OK but who knows what's really going on!

Operating system is WINXP Pro and I normally use Opera 9.5 as my browser. The latest version of SpyBot is now fully compatible with Opera, by the way, just in case anyone isn't aware of this.
