I am heading for Thailand long-term from the US. I am wondering if I should buy certain components here prior to leaving or wait until I am in Thailand. I am pretty sure I will be purchasing a new laptop here because I do not think 17" laptops (decent or otherwise) are readily available in Thailand (from what I remember). I am also wondering about things like:

Motherboards - decent ones, not the entry level cheap ones

Memory

Drives

Video Cards

LCD Monitors (20" and larger)

If the US has better pricing, are the price differences substantial enough to justify shipping or the hassles of carrying over?

Thanks

Chris

Keep in mind that the above price lists don't really reflect the current inventory. They're like Thai restaurant menus in which many dishes aren't in fact offered.

Shipping, no. Carrying, if you get some special rebate price there--generally speaking. Remember that buying locally gets you the local guarantee and support.
