Hp 3110 Multi Function--whats The Score?

Featured Replies

Right--bought an HP 3110 multi-function printer/scanner/copier/Fax/Sandwichmaker etc....here's the glitch--about 3 years ago--and, never opened the box [ dont ask why, and no, I haven't been in BKK Hilton]--anyway, it's now, guess what, not supported by HP anymore--surprise,surprise, what with modern trends of built-in obsolescence, etc...Anyway, my question is does anyone know this printer come 'Jack-of-All-Trades' and is it any good?? i.e. is it worth my while going ahead with attempting to set it up, and install the software on my computer etc.., or, would I be better off trying to approach HP with a view to an alternate, still supported job replacement that they may be able to supply any necessary bits for--I guess they'll just tell me where to go and want to sell me a completely new unit.

I guess my question really is about HP as a corp. and their policies viz-a-viz customer relations--as said the unit is unused and still packaged, if this makes any difference.

Any sensible input appreciated--that's to say no references to 'snap-kicks to heads' and so on......

Looks like the printer is fully supported by HP in that drivers, {even Vista} software etc. is still current and downloadable from their site, cartridges are still sold, so not sure what the point is you're trying to make. You buy something, you, for whatever reason don't use it, and then you seem to criticise HP for stopping making it in the interim?

Regards

Yes, I have finally found driver and support details, after initially drawing a blank--that's when the query was posted; interested to know whether others are still using this machine, and, if so with what results [ I found a forum with some people who were dissatisfied]

Don't waste your time on HP rubbish. This printer takes 6 cartridges -- when just one runs out, it refuses to keep working. You always need to have them all non-empty.

But it gets worse: after a while a bad paper jam permanently broke the printer. I wasn't too upset ... I could still use the fax and scanner. Wrongo... after a while a message pops up "Your cartridge has reached its expiry date" and refused to run the fax or scan functions.

So, HP has tried to bully me into repeatedly shoving expensive ink into its junk. Never buy HP again. Ever! They are thieves.
