What Was Thailand Like Years Ago - Part Ii

Recommended Posts

There is a beautiful topic about thailand in the 60's and 70's entitled "What was Thailand like years ago." Over the last 2 years it has over 300 well thought out entries but is getting hard to follow. Without offending any one may I start part two here ?

I came across this short clip from the CBC News archives concerning what may be the reason for the start of Thailands sex industry or the reason for its rapid growth to what we find today.

Visit CBC Website .................. go down the list till you see Vietnam War: Bangkok R&R in the left column.

I'd be interested to hear what others have to say about this controversial subject.

Sorry if I violated any rule - will read regulations of this place. Seems tastefully done to me though and i am a prude.

Sorry but exactly what was not tastefully done and what suggestions do you have to make it tolerated.

Was it my wording or CBC who was distasteful ???

Thank you Cynthialee.

Thailand in the 70s was a beautiful country with lots of beautiful people. nowadays it's just a country with lots of people :o

Isn't it nice to hear from the helpful self appointed moderator types ? :D I don't have any idea if your subject will fly due to the trend in heavy censorship of anything remotely controversial but thanks for the link as it was great to see that short video clip from those old days of the Viet Nam era. :o

Monkey--What do you mean by saying Pattaya doesn't have beauty. The last time I checked, the asking price was 1000 Baht for a short time beauty and 1500 for a long time beauty ! :o

This thread is going downhill already.

Back on topic, I was first in Pattaya in '79 and roomed over the general store on the corner of Soi 7 where at that time there was only

one Thai owned bar.

There were none in Soi 8. Pattaya was already seething with farangs and traffic was already a problem.

The other parts of Thailand I visited were much less developed than they are today and in many parts the people had had little

contact with farangs, things were much cheaper but not really better then.

Funny about traffic! I first came to Pattaya in 92 and there was no real traffic problem
