Export Media Player Info/details From One Pc To Another?

Featured Replies

I have a large collection of live music video clips which I have ripped from my live music concert DVD’s. When the songs are ripped, they do not carry the individual song information, (title, artist etc), but I can re- input (edit) this information using a media player library. I can do this in either Windows media player or Real Player, and I keep all the video files on an external, 1 terabyte hard disk. I then the connect my PC to large TV screen and can choose playlists via the media player and watch my selected video clips – as is done in many bars.

My problem is how to transfer the detail I have input into the media player from one Pc to another. Ideally I want to transfer from desk top to lap top so that I can use the media player away from home. There seems to be no facility on either Widows or Real Player to do this. I can sync the library list for downloading onto an idpod or similar, but that just down loads original files from my hard disk with the incomplete information (no artist name etc).

Does anyone know of a media programme that can be exported from one computer to another (in the same way, for example, as a windows address book can be exported), or is there a way to export Windows or Real player information from one PC to another?

Thanks

Thanks rijb - that looks like the perfect link.

I should have clarified that I wish to transfer my Media player data base, but you understood my garbled question anyway.

Seems a bit complicated but it will be good exercise for warding off Alzheimers :o
