None of you and I mean none of you understand what life really is all about.

So let it be cause it is part of life.

Daveyo

Welcome back DaveYo! Shame about the generalisation though mate.

Would you say the current economic situation Ethiopia should be "let be" ?

:o

That is, and always has been, our Dave's way. Facts never get in the way of the story being told :D

not at all!!!!

saved my marbles, the point is p4p is here to stay as it suits some people who like this conveniance.

i live, travel alone, have enough dough, but from time to time like companionship, so am more than happy to pay for the single transactions!

prostitutes, freelancers, bargirls, waitresses, shopgirls etc. are here to stay, or are they now going to be all classified as prostitutes? are the toxin boys now going to stamp them all out?

most unlikly!

I hope Thai officials do read those posts, they will then understand the cause of the problem.

>> > do you really think they care? they dont want the hookers to dissapear either, even they got their own places to go, with white flesh, see the kind of cars parked in front of karaoke and VIP cocktail lounges and masage. do, the police most amazingly is very much after internet scams and conflicting homepages (and censor), even those scams mostly just harm naive farangs sending money to thai girls they never met before, which i think is waste of time, there would be more important thigns to follow up, but that is another story, sorry!

>>>

We foreigners created prostitution at the first place by offering Thai's money they could never make that easy by working regurarly jobs.

>>> in one or the other way he's right, even if it's just in case of americans soldiers during vietnam war on holiday here, when petchburi road was a dark outback road at night (read Andrew Harris "after dark" isbn 520-00340-060 macfadden-bartell) but of course the asian tourists support probably much more this business, just look at the bus loads of chinese men they carry to chao phaya 1 and 2 massage every day! The thais themself support the thousands huge massage parlours allover, in the area of rama9 and petchburi everyone could count 25 and more such many-story-establishments (adult entertainment) within a 20 minutes by car, or look at radchada! We farangs with "our" territory patpong, nana, cowboy and pattaya, phuket make a very small part comparing to that!

>>>

For example a standard price for one night with a Thai is around 1000-1500 Bht; when if the Thai was just working she/he would make around 6000-10000 Bht/month on a six days week, 8to 10 daily. If you do the Maths you will see that that 6 customers equal a full months salary and they can sleep for the rest of the month!

>> > they love to sleep, eat, tv, and same again....

but the income you mention is for example for a university educated well english speaking 3star hotel restaurant manager! not for those kind of girls you meet a sukhumvit! they can make a 4500 or 5000 if it comes high!

i heard a university degree ingineer required for driving the bts skytrain gets an 8000 a month. so the women of course get less than man as well.

i knew a (raggae pub)girl on samui, 21, and her was offered a job in chaweng in a 5 star hotel coffee shop by my farang friend working there with salary 10'000 (and tip can be up to 100$ a time as for my male roomboy farang friend) and she didn't want to take it. much more fun to hang around the discos and catch young farang boys...

>>>

:o We foreigners must STOP being SO CHEAP and not offer them money for sex. We're the ones to be blamed for prostitution, especially the "savors" foreigners who take care of "poor" Thai's, for the "Thai's" good!

>> >they can make a fortune, if they would not waste it on useless small stuff they buy, or send all to mother and live still the same basic live, or ring the bell in the bar after a good customer to make themself up or because they are drunk and spend a round for 4500 baht (experience), is that what you want to support?

i am here many years and can see the prices go up. the quality of course is often very poor that why a freeby from a thai place who really want to taste farang is much better deal in bed. they get really naughty and unfriendly sometimes.

i also understand that tourists dont understand the prices here and they dont want to count their money. but jsut think what you spoil them. they never can be satisfied anymore if they get many of this ...i like to stay with you i pay 2000" approaches to a girl frined in khao san raod and she was not a hooker. another one gets a 4000 from a guy in sukhumvit. i am happy for the girl to get soemthing in life. but does she relly see the reality of this?

>>>

No one can like you with out your money? NO ONE???

>> >at least not at nana and patpong!!

Going the easy way and have sexual partners which you know that they feel disgusted by your touch???

>> >they are not that picky as you think! that with the good heart is not that wrong sometimes! many are lonely and like to talk, physical points are not the most important to them. there you can blame ourself!

You really are a <deleted>, try looking off the beaten track and you will see as may girls who work only with Thais, of course if you only look at walking street you will see farrangs, its a tourist street.

You sound more like a Thai girl who has been hurt by a farrang, and promised the world for free sex or a Thai man who can't afford to pay for it rather than a serious poster.

Prostitution was here long before the farrangs started coming.

Love ppl being rude when they face reality. I'm a male young farung with two masters and I can afford what ever I want, honestly and all. I had my 2 years LD Thai relationship and I was sick seeing all of his friends with these older FARUNGS, and I heard their stories, slept in their rooms, visiting their families,, and I wasn't contributing a cent, we spent as much as we both could afford. Like a normal relationship.

You sound like an idiot. :o

The way U talk and your quote under each of your message shows that you obviously are an ugly middle age forung who can't have a gf without paying for her. You freak out with the idea of prostitution banning because your sex life will have an early death. The truth is that since U depend on prostitution for sex, your sex life is already dead and I'm sorry for that. Sex isn't about performing, is about sharing emotions. That's something U can't pay for... I'm sorry...

And all the rest who're trying to hold on the who started and the percentages of Thai's/Farungs concerning prostitution, obviously are seeking for excuses. The only truth is that you're HELPING their CORRUPTION; not that it's not their fault too, obviously I'd rather sleep in a tent for the rest of my life than prostituting. But still, there are a lot of Thai's who wouldn't be corrupted if it wasn't so easy because of the huge demand for young bodies on sale.

Guys... You all deserve a healthy relationship, there's someone for U out there. Don't seek the easy solution, beacause this is just a supplement and U know it...

I think foreigners do contribute to the increase in prostitution as prostitute and a client .

In my home town a city (Aizawl , Mizoram) of 300,000 people, we have prostitutes not as widespread as bangkok though. you may find 5 to 10 if you walk through a city centre at night, during daylight you wont find any. Since we dont have tourist , prostitution is not a big issue and most prostitute are from Burma(myanmar).

During insurgency, indian troops occupy the city and there are lots of prostitute but now they are gone, prostitution exist in name only.

I think if we have visitors as much as bangkok, the situation will be the same.

Its really demand and supply. if you dont want prostitution ban tourism and open the country only when it is developed and these women no longer need to sell themselves for money.

An enlightened approach to prostitution in the developed world would take the money away from the pimps and criminals and rechannel it into educating the prostitutes to protect themselves and plan for the future:

4.  With occupational legitimacy, social services from NGOs or government could have better access to the prostitutes to educate and communicate with them.  Among the points to be addressed for the younger workers:

...

b.  It is highly unlikely that you meet any real lover or husband among your clients.  If you still have this fantasy you should abandon it.

...

Although I'm thinking in terms of a western bureaucracy in writing this, there are many elements which would be just as applicable to Thailand.

"Steven"

4(:o very much depends on the market sector. I've seen statistics on a sector in the Philippines (Subic Bay, I think) which said that 80% of the girls found Western husbands. Anecdotal evidence suggests a similarly high figure for certain bars in Thailand.

Thanks for posting, filippos, member number 1,615. You joined 18 months ago - sure took your time to say something... :o

You are bad news. You talk too much saying nothing however trying to intimidate and insinuate way too much.

Some more or less accurate facts :

1995 estimates of the total revenue from prostitution in Thailand is approximately 59-60% of the government's budget for that year.....

THAILAND: estimates of women in prostitution range from 300,000 to 2.8 million, of which a third are minors and children. Thai women are also in prostitution in many counties in Asia, Australia, Europe and the US. Some 4.6 million Thai men regularly, and 500,000 foreign tourists annually, use prostituted women and girls. Some estimates put the number of under-age prostitutes in Thailand at 400,000 (Asiaweek, February 7, 1997)

Thailand touts sex tax as huge revenue stream

Government debates legalizing a notorious and profitable trade

full content of that IMHO intresting article :

http://www.walnet.org/csis/news/world_2003...ost-031128.html

IMHO in five years from new the sex industry in Th will have changed dramatically. The visible part of it will then be subject to stricter controls both over the actors and venues and (more) taxes will be levied directly and indirectly. The real political motifs to do so will be dubious and the political agenda hidden.

In the end the cost for the prostituants will increase becoz of the increased controls and taxes decreasing the supply by visible prostitutes resulting in TH comparatively being a less attractive destination for low cost sextourism. TH political and business elites will make efforts to compensate for that by proposing a more family oriented tourist environment.

When it come to something like cracking down on prostitution you just have to laugh at how all talk they are. If they were really serious about it they could just closed down patpong. It's not that big and this is thailand where cops can come down heavy and make the law up as they go along. They could literally close every bar in that area. And in pattaya... there are a bunch of bars right next to the police station. The government know how much of their countries income comes from the bars and they don't really want to get rid of it.

  • 2 weeks later...
Thailand is a mecca for people who enjoy the freedom of sexual proclivity that exists here.  Nothing wrong with that!

Nothing wrong with that! :D:o:D

What are you saying Tippaporn ?!

As a Thai person I think it is not a good thing to encourage prostitution or any type of activity that can cause more damage in our society. I don’t know if the minister’s plans could solve the problem of prostitution in a long term. But one thing I know for sure that there are many things that we can do and there are many people that need helps here in Thailand. I wish the Thai government is really engage seriously to make the differences, not just a temporary campaign’s work for making their own benefits for gaining popularity etc. The freedom of sexual exploitation that exists here must be stopped now. Freedom is not a bad thing, but it must not be used on the suffering of Thai youth, and those unfortunate Thai people.

I think it's quite simple.

The Government and people want the extremely high income from prostitution to sustain their lifestyle but don't want the dirtiness that comes with it.

It's either one or the other.

Go back to a third world or become a first world and this for Thailand will be determined by the Governments approach to prostitution, it's a hard reality.

"If they were really serious about it they could just closed down patpong."

Oh heavens yes! and that would stop about 1-2% of the prostitution in Bangkok? Strange how they never have a sweep through the thai brothels or exclusive massage parlors is it? That's where 90% of the prostitution exists, but it takes place behind closed doors (and are frequented by thais!) so they never see the cold stare of public scrutiny, do they?

The falang are stupid enough to be seen with a prostitute in public, so they are the constant target of opportunity.

Expanding meaningful job opportunities in Isaan and other rural poor areas is a start.

Requiring and enforcing adequate healthcare and wage protections for the ladies in all aspects of the trade is absolutely needed!

But it's easier, cheaper and more politically expedient to chase a few freelancers and ladyboys about the park! :o

Just a sad joke.

Minister leads Bangkok hooker chase

Have some sympathy for the fellow.

Usually, when tired, one can go home to rest. This guy has to chase

the hookers night after night after night.

Wonder, if he ever shows up in the mornings on time at the office. :o

understand you hate prostitution but don't only think of Patpong or cowboy.  There are more Thai establishment, but they are hidden,

Err... hidden ???

anyone been to Rachadapisek road lately (last 15 years) - it's the Las Vegas of whoredom & all for the locals.

Take a look at Poseidon - a pretty impressive building for a whore house. Looks like a five star hotel from the outside - of course I couldn't comment on the interior.

Walking Street pales in comparison.

You just need to look past the tourist areas to see the 'hidden' Thai sex industry for locals - it ain't a foreigner problem.

No matter what way you look at it, the Thai government are slowly chipping away at the incentives that attract many of the Farangs to Thailand in the first place. They seem bent on getting rid of the type of Farang who visits Thailand for the ladies and bars.

Think about it...First they close the bars early, then arrange high profile random drug tests in bars and night clubs and now they are herding up prostitutes. These are the staple diet of many Farangs who frequent the naughty areas. It is obvious to all that there will always be prostitution in Thailand and although this most recent episode is hardly the death knoll for the whoremonger, surely that day can't be too far away, can it?

]

I think thats Birmingham UK you are talking about.
