I just got back from KL and was issued a multi entry Non Immigrant visa. I asked for an 'O', but was given a 'B'. I am happy enough as it keeps me here for another year, but was wondering is there much difference between the 2? I mean, what can a 'B' give you that an 'O' can't, and vice versa?

Thanks

James

Great to hear that on this board and congratulation.

I don’t see any advantages/disadvantages as such, unless you want to use your B visa together with a Working Permit. Others may give you here more details, but the important thing is that you got another year, stretchable to in fact 15 months if you border run just before its expiry.

Yeah, I think you can legally work on both as long as you have a work permit. I think it's a case of "six of one and half a dozen of t'other"!!

Did you supply details of your work permit when you made the visa application?

No, I didn't. I don't have a WP.

If your visa is a one year multiple entry non-immigrant category B, then the KL embassy must have made a mistake.

In some cases your WP cannot be combined with a Non-O visa, such as working on an EPZ under Industrial Estate rules
