andyadam
Have just come back from the UK with the GF, planning a trip early next year but would like to go skiing, will she need a visa for any other countries we might visit? The reason I ask, her sister went to Germany for a month with a VV and went to spain to visit her friend, no visa! she was not asked for her passport anywhere. Is it as I would think and she was just lucky?
the scouser
Most EU countries have signed up for what is called the Schengen Agreement and it is this that enabled your g/f's sister to freely travel from Germany to Spain without the need for another visa. Britain is not a signatory. Consequently, a visa for the relevant European country your g/f wishes to visit, in addition to the UK visa, will need to be obtained. Scouse. the scouser
P.S. Don't forget that if your g/f is travelling to the UK then Europe and back to the UK she will need a multiple entry visit visa for the UK. Scouse.
