hi everybody

i just come back from a long day at the swiss embassy and the thai immigration....and......i'm still not really sure what i have to do or how i should do it :D (but never stop smiling)

i'm in bangkok since 4 years. sometimes on a non-immigrant-visa-b from switzerland, sometimes with a work permit(which is just really expensive!),.....when i came back from switzerland in june i came on a 2months tourist-visa, after that i had to go to china and came back on a 30-day-tourist-visa which will expire on the 20th this month.

i got married 4 days ago with a thai and so i hoped i can get a non-immigrant-visa-0 based on marriage. i spent hours to find some information on the web what is required, where to apply,.... - but everybody writes something different of course...

what i found out today is that i can apply for the marriage visa at the immigration in bangkok! why everybody's always talking about doing that abroad?

but what exept of the form TM87(?), marriage certificate, tabien baan of the husband, passport copy of my husband and me......... do we need to show them?

and what about the money they want to see? is there a difference if i'm a farang woman or man? my husband is working freelanceand and doesn't earn 40K a month. i'm living on the money i saved until i find a job......

re-entry is also required......

what do you suggest me? (because there's no certain way how to do it....)

is there anybody out there who can help me :D

that would be so great!

waiting for your answers right here...........

:o

Unless things have changed in the past year or so there are no financial requirements for a woman married to a Thai man.

You should take the documents you listed, six photos of you and your husband in your current home, a map (preferably hand drawn) showing where you live and 1,900 baht down to the immigration department on Soi Suan Plu.

1. You can not apply for a change of visa unless you have more than 21 days remaining on your current permitted to stay stamp. It can be done in Bangkok if you do. But currently you do not qualify.

2. You can apply for a 60 day extension of stay under police order 606/2006 section 7.23 to visit husband. That will be 1,900 baht and a TM.7 form with 4x6cm photo and marriage certificate, his ID card, his home register and your passport/departure card/copies. You should be able to do this at any Immigration office.

Later you can use a visa trip or change to obtain non immigrant O visa and that can be extended on a one year basis. Requirement is 40k family income but for wife of Thai it is not being enforced.
