Does any one know the difference between Rosewood and Pradoo tree? From my search over the internet, I get conflicting results.

What are they use for?

How valuable, precious the derived wood is?

How long do they take to mature?

What kind of condition do they grow in?

Thanks... :o

The Lao tree seed guide suggests a rotation period of 60 years with thinning every five....so a long time. But probably depends on what the wood will be used for. The norm for harvesting plantation teak I keep hearing is about 15 years, but log value increases exponentially up to ages of 40-50 years. The references say pradu has only a "medium" growth rate so it would take longer than teak. Teak is regarded as a moderate to fast growing tree.

thanks for your reply... wow.. that s very long indeed...

would u know any other type of tree that is valuable enough to grow but with a shorter maturity.... say between 10 to 20 years?

What about eucalytpus trees? is it worth growing? how fast does it reach harvesting age?

Thanks! :o
