I need to do a border run from Pattaya next week for my 90 day stamp and wondering what do you guys recommend for a good service to use? As most people I want to go quick, comfortable and pay the least amount LOL

Suggestions?

5 Star Visa Run... which is run by The Sportsman Bar Pattaya. they do all paperwork.. your required only to hand Passport over for Visa.

Breakfast, Lunch and 6 seater van w movies is included in the 2400.00 THB fee. They also do a 'Smokers' run.

There are (slightly) cheaper options, but most are in the 2,000 - 2,400 range.

I used to use 5 Star myself. The service was always good (can't say the same for some of the other passengers though).

5 Star also had a discount card (not sure if they still do). Each run adds a stamp to the card. Each stamp represents a discount on the next run (but if you use your card to get a discount, you have to start all over again with a new card). After so many "runs" (5 ?) your 6th run is free (unless you've already used your card to get a discount).

5 Star operates out of the Sportsman (about halfway down soi 13 on the left side, going from #2 road towards Beach road), and feeds you breakfast before the trip, makes a pit-stop along the way, gives you a pre-packaged lunch on the return trip, makes another pit-stop on the return trip.

At the border, you have to clear Thai Immigration Out/In, but on the Cambo side they do all the work. In all fairness, I think most of the visa-run companies provide similar services, though some may not give you breakfast before you go.

Not sure of the name, but they operate from Witherspoons on soi Bhuakow (A1?).

Same price as 5*, same minibus with only 6 big comfy seats and movies, breakfast before departure, and dinner on return.

You can do it for about 2,000 , but for me I would rather pay an extra 400 for a comfy seat and some movies to pass the time, the food is a bonus but not the motivating factor.

As an aside last time I drove it, and then went down to Koh Chang for a few days. This was certainly more interesting, and will probably be my border run of choice in the future.

I would also second the services of 1st Class Visa (B 2500). They operate out of Witherspoons Pub (next to Oasis a-go-go on Soi Bua Khow). I have use them many times (and again this coming Monday) and they have very comfy 6 seat van with "aircraft" style seats (no bench seats). Serve brekie before and full dinner at restaurant on return.

Hi,

As Kerryd said, most of the visa-run companies provide similar services.

So I use one of the cheapper ones : Cambodia Inter, Soi Boakao, 1.800 baht.

Good job, good new vans, good driver and lunch on return, fast but safe.

You don't have to wait for guys taking (slow) breakfast before starting.

You don't need big confy seat except if you are one 120 kg plus guy...

Ive also used Cambodia Inter, and Key Visa for Visa runs, both very good service for a cheaper price..

With Key Visa, you get a Free buffet lunch in the Casino.

With Key visa we get discount because my Dad knows the owner..

But I think Key Visa's usual price is 2,000฿. They have an office on soi LK Metro, and also one at Jomtien but not sure of the exact location of that one. Same bus as Cambodia inter, only difference is you get to have an air conditioned buffet whilst they get your Cambodia visa, so no waiting around in the hot sun at the border and the food is better. They also stop off on the way back at the same place as Nisan does.

However, they set off 30 minutes earlier, and get back around the same time.

He's increased the price then?

Anyone have a number or can tell me how to catch the Cambodia Inter bus in the am tomorrow (monday )?? Their office is not answering the phone... or someone might have a mobile number for them? Can I just show up at their office in the morning? And what time?

You will have to book it first as their office is not open in the mornings when the bus is leaving. You should go to book it tonight if you need to go tomorrow. You're leaving it a little late. You can call Nisan at 0870069789 if you can't contact him on the office phone.

I second 1st Class from Witherspoons. Sure you can get cheaper (Bt2400 it was) but getting something to eat is fine. No waiting for latecomers, some food when you get back if you want it.

As a side note, does anyone know why the visa companies did not renegotiate with the Cambodians over the baht fee paid when the USD fell from mid 40's to low 30's ? Used to be Bt1200 for the visa, bribes and paperwork. However, the visa is USD20 which was Bt880 (at 44) and went as low as Bt640 (at 32). With Bt500 or so "free" money in the middle of this, there should have been some downward pricing.

I used Key Visa on LK Metro to get a 7 day visa extension in April. I was just too lazy to run down to Jomtien immigration and do it myself. I gave them my passport, signed one form and left. I came back the next day and they had it. I think they can do it in one day if you get there early enough in the morning. I was there at about 2 PM. They charged the required fee and then for themselves added something like 150 baht or something like that? I forget the actual amount. It was well worth it to have some one drive over to Jomtien, stand in line and come back. They do it all the time. I am always nervous about giving anybody my passport, but since I was going home in a few days, the loss of the passport would have only been an inconvenience.

This week i need to get a new Visa, since my tourist visa with the 30 day extension is running out. Been here for 90 days now. I am planning to stay a little longer, and i was thinking of going to the border, cross it and get a 30 day visa on arrival on my way back. I guess the services provided by the companies mentioned in this post are all good for that? Do they do the run every day or just a few times a week? If i am going to get a Visa on arrival, i guess i would not need the extra passport pictures, i just need my passport or..? If there's any of those companies that doesn't help u with the paperwork, i would like to know so i don't jump on their horse, since i want this to be as easy as possible. This is my first time in Thailand, so i don't know much about how to do this, so any help would be appreciated.

Abbathor

Just pick one of the companies mentioned. Go into their office with your passport and photos and they will do the rest. All you have to do is sign and of course pay.

Thanx for the replies. I called Key Visa and i got a very nice lady in the other end. She had some proplems with the english language though, so she wanted me to call back later or come by the office when her boss arrived. I called Cambodia Inter too, but they didn't pick up the phone. I sent them an email, and they replied fairly quick. In the meantime i had browsed the net and came across Jack's golf Visa run, which seemed pretty ok. I called them, and i now have a booking. They seem to provide a good service, very helpful with the paperwork (at least that's what they say, i'll post my first experience with them after the run). As far as they told me i just have to walk through the gate and they handle the rest. And they also serve free beverage :o

Ok, i just came back from waiting for the Jacks Golf visa run bus at the planned meeting point. The girl on the phone told me to meet there at 04:40 because the bus leaves at 05:00. So i was there at 04:40, even though the website says the bus leaves at 06:00, and so does their other commercials. There was no bus there at 05:00, so i waited untill 06:00 because i thought i may have heard wrong on the phone. No bus there by 06:00 either, so i called the office. He said the bus had left at 05:00. I said i was there at 04:40 and up till now, and there was no bus. He became a bit confused, but then again he insisted that the bus had left at 05:00. I think this is just bullshit, i suspect they did not have enough bookings, and they cancelled the run without even bother to call me. This is really frustrating since my visa runs out today, so i guess i will have to go to the immigration office instead and apply for a second extension. Next time i will definately not make a booking with Jackss golf Visa run.

Been here 5 years and never heard of Jacks golf visa run, should of stuck with a previous post's suggestion and picked a company already mentioned in this thread, they are all legitamate.

For your next visa run, try the company i always use and do daily runs in minibuses for 2,100bt, pick up at 6.30am and back at 3pm with buffet lunch at the border in the casino. All paperwork taken care of while you eat your lunch.

They do there Runs out from Tesco South Pattaya afaik. Started somewhere this year. Never used them, 5Star Visa run out of the Sportsman Soi 13 is my choice. Nice Breakfast, a Lunch (airline stile) on the way back in the bus and a free beer when back.

Seconded also. I went with them 4 times last year. Good driver! Having a safe driver is a big consideration.

And they have headphones for the video - so no noisy video in the van if you don't want to watch it.

From my experience in Asia, when the currencies climb there is never any adjustment in price. From their point of view it's just a bonus. When the currency was very low (44) we were the ones benefiting weren't we. Did they adjust the prices up to compensate?
