I too am looking for updated info. The food is not a key issue but rather the total time involved and the price. I called key visa but they could barely give me any information on the phone. Just kept telling me to come down to the shop. It sounds like lunch is included but not really sure what that entails.

I like Cambodia inter and they are good if you stay in Naklua or on the Dark Side. The other ones are a better option if you stay near the central pick up point they use. Most of the more expensive ones have you show up and eat breakfast at some location in central Pattaya. Inter drives around picking people up all over Pattaya and then drops off, first the last person picked up. So if you are in Naklua or the Dark Side you will not have to come to central Pattaya and will have a very fast visa run. Cambodia inter is still 1800 Baht as of my last trip in April. The lunch is 25 baht fried rice or noodles at a rest area on the way back, so very much no frills.

Any updates?

I usually do not need these services so i am not looking the cheapest service..

IMHO the service from 'The Sportsman' pub, Pattaya Soi 13 Beach Road is still the best.

100% agree with you on that one

Not sure of the name, but they operate from Witherspoons on soi Bhuakow (A1?).

Same price as 5*, same minibus with only 6 big comfy seats and movies, breakfast before departure, and dinner on return.

You can do it for about 2,000 , but for me I would rather pay an extra 400 for a comfy seat and some movies to pass the time, the food is a bonus but not the motivating factor.

As an aside last time I drove it, and then went down to Koh Chang for a few days. This was certainly more interesting, and will probably be my border run of choice in the future.

do you mean you went to the border the other side of trat

Even with a multiple entry visa you still need to completely leave Thailand which entails stamping into a diff country. The costs are the same. I doubt you would get a discount as many folks on these runs already have visas for Thailand or are getting visa on arrival (free). If you find out different, please let us know as I'm sure a lot of folks (me included) could use the discount.

Thanks for that.

Of course you are right about the costs, as thinking about it I doubt there is a Thai Consulate there to get a new visa ( am I wrong? ). So just to get new border stamp then.

I did a few visa runs from Pattaya to the Cambodian border,

think the Companys name was 5* Visa Service.

Horrible process, wake up early, sit in a minibus for hours,

arrive at the end of the World, get harrased by child beggars,

passport stamped by some dodgy looking border official, then return.

Sorry I could not recommend that service, if you are in Pattaya

or Bkk I would say the next nearest border by road (not including Burma)

would probably be Laos. Not sure if thats any better.

It's not that bad! Just sleep on the VIP bus (2,500 baht) from Sportsmans pub Soi 13. No hassle at the new Cambodge border and grab a carton of cigs for your enemies back home.

If your smart you plan in advance and go for short get away on Air Asia. The flight is not much more then the cost of the visa service.

Tropo where do you book your service if you don't mind telling? I am after a visa run and really dont care about a meal or breakfast being included.

Cheers

Sorry, I didn't mean to be rude, but I just noticed this post. I was heading overseas on the very day you posted it. If you still need the info, just PM me or reply here.

The 1,900/2,000 baht visa runs are just false economy. I've tried them all over the years. Some of the driving is horrific and the vehicle quality is frightening, plus there is only sardine leg room.

My first priority is safety, so that is why I opt for the 2,500 baht VIP visa runs.

In fact they are actually 2,250 baht because you get a loyalty card which is good for a 500 baht reduction on your third visa run.

The breakfast and lunch is an added bonus and they also throw in a free bottle of beer upon return.

I think that anyone who uses the 'cheap charlie' 1,900/2,000 baht visa run buses must be congenital simpletons with room temperature IQ's.

I agree paying more is the best way to go. How much to rent the whole van for myself and a few Go Go dancers that I like to bring along on my border runs? Also beer is so "cheap charlie" can I get champagne? Can I get a hotel room at the border while my papers are being processed? I also want motorcycle cops to close the roads as I drive down to Cambodia and keep away the grubby children at the border crossing. On second thought can I get helicopter service?

I'll support 1st Class Visa runs as being excellent. They are now running from The Queen Vic in Soi 6, although I think you can still book your run at Witherspoons until the end of September - sorry don't have a number to hand.

I've used a couple of other firms and for last 3 runs been with 1st Class.

Plus points for me are that they set off, on time, from The Queen Vic, without having a trip around Pattaya picking up passengers. Every driver so far has been safe (certainly by Thai standards). They show a couple of DVDs each way, with a short pee/fag/coffee break half way. The movie soundtracks play through personal wireless headsets, so you don't have to listen to a movie that you're not interested in. There are 6 large comfortable seats, so really no worries about being cramped, wherever you sit. The breakfast before and meal on return are added bonuses, that I don't use. I reckon it is worth paying the extra few hundred baht over some other companies to go with them.

I went with them recently, and have no complaints, though the best I can say about the driver is to agree with the above. All paperwork taken care of, and all I had to do was sign where indicated. They get the Cambodian visa for you, so we went up to the duty free by the casino for about 15 minutes while that was done.

Not cheap at 2500 bht, but worth it for the convenience and comfortable seats.

The lady at the Queen Vic speaks good English and answered all my questions.

The only thing I don't understand is why we had to leave at 0645, when we got back mid afternoon. Certainly there weren't any queues to hang about in at the border, so that's not it.

An hour later would have been much more pleasant.

Although I have not been with any of the other companies, I can recommend 1st Class, and will use them again if necessary.
