What is a Thai syle kitchen ? When someone describes a home as having, "not a western kitchen" What exactly does that mean ?

It means it's probably outdoors and probably doesn't include an oven. Burmers tend to be concave to accomodate round bottom wok pans.

Worktops and cooking areas will usually be much lower than the standard european height and as already pointed out would usually be outside.

Typically no built in HOB just an area to put a gas stove and maybe a single sink of some sort and this all may be in a room called a kitchen room or it may be outside. No cabinets or other western style amenities as we know them
