Thank you all very much for your comments. I think my opinions follow the majority here, that it is not really an occupation one would have their GF or wife doing. There is way to much "hanky-panky" in these joints. Maybe a high class hotel spa an exception. This came up as a result of a "hare-brained" scheme of her Mother, who wants more money. My lady in question is 38, so not a 20 something sexpot. She has a cousin working in BKK as an "on-call", so this is partly where Mama got the idea. I told her that she could take training in this, if she really wanted, but I wasn't paying for any of it and she was not to work in this occupation, if whe wanted to continue seeing me. She and her Mother get adequate money from me and the whole idea is greed based.

Really, the alarm bells should be ringing. Many people would see this as a red flag regarding the future of the relationship. It really depends what her background is and whether she has ever been active in leisure and entertainment activity before. There again Thais do just get the silliest of fancies from time to time. Also some greedy relative, most usually Mama, has decided farang is not coming up with enough goodies.

Just an update to this story - the lady in question has told me that this "school" runs for 2 months. Hours from 9:30 AM - 9:30 PM everyday. Cost to her 10,000 bht. Aparently some sort of hotel venue is involved. I asked her how much money she might expect to make once got a job. She said approx. 7,000 bht per mo. This is not in BKK, but an Issan city. I told her that no lady associated with me will do this type of work or be involved in such activity. To me, most of them are just fronts for prostitution. I am quite disgusted that she would even consider such a thing.

Quite a few sweeping generalisations here which have limited validity IMHO and experience.

I've had hundreds of massages, sometimes with my Thai partner and sometimes alone. Many in curtained off areas and some in single rooms. Even used the Mandara Spa at the Marriotts for naked scrums and the like.

As fronts for prostitution then I think you believe that all women outside of an office are hookers and that is just plain daft.

Of course some places specialise and some girls in regular places will accommodate. Then again, so will your average office worker in New York or elsewhere if offered sufficient cash incentive.

Would I want mine to do it ? Well I had a GF who was trained and that was nice at home. My answer is probably not though due to the attentions of some of the guys unless in a top end place like a 5* hotel. The end result though would be her not working per se but owning a place for herself and knowing sufficient to pick out good masseuses and train them where necessary. Just to earn pin money would not be an incentive for me.

ACtually if you seen the looks of most massage women they could hardly be fronts for prostitution . They are there for legit massagees, but who wants that
