I got a 30 day extension today as my passport is full and there was just enough space for a stamp. I have got a C1 form from the embassy, can I fill it out and get my passport back the same day? If not - how long does it take and can it be done within 30 days? If it does take more than a day do I have to be without my passport while I wait for the new one?

Cheers

Hi, don't know what nationality you are, but some embassies add pages to the passport. US embassy does free of charge as I am told and you can wait for that.

If you are British, then it takes around 7-10 days for you passport to be renewed at the embassy in Bangkok. You will be without your passport for the 10 days but you get a receipt from the embassy stating that you are renewing your passport and this is accepted by the Thai's should you be stopped and asked for your passport. Once you have got your new passport then you go to your local immagration and they will stamp in your new passport the amount of time you have left of your visa, in your case around 18-20 days. The bad thing regarding the British passport unlike the Americans we cannot add pages, we have to buy a new passport when its full.

He said "C1" so it is a British Passport. 30 days is plenty of time. I lost mine in transit from Heathrow (I think it was nicked by one of the Russian mafia on the flight) and the embassy in Bangkok turned me a new one in 6 working hours. Admittedly it was an emergency but still bloody brilliant service. Plus, they were really extremely pleasant to deal with and understanding too. I won't hear a word said against the Embassy in Bangkok. I have always had first class treatment from them.

Now, the visa process to take the missus to London is another story...........

In BKK it takes 10 working days for a passport, and no way to fast track this.

Yes for emergency purposes you can get one in a few hours, but a nealry full passport is not considered and emergency by the BE

Thanks for the replies, yes I am British - so I'd better get down there before the end of next week.

I hate filling the things in. :o

The consulate in New York once issued me a passport in under 3 hours so they can do it that fast if its an emergency.

There's an option in the UK for guaranteed same day service if you pay more. Don't know if the Embassies have the same options

No you can't fast track it.

I did mine a few months ago and it took 3 weeks, so I would do it sooner rather than later.
