Marriage And Visa.. Two Different Things ?

Featured Replies

Hi everyone.

,

I am Brazilian would like to marry with my thai girlfriend here in Bangkok, but i have some doubts:

1) I am a freelancer web development... is this can be a problem ? Because I read in some place that I must have a incoming monthly (and prove it) to marry. Is it true ?

2) The marry process is easy or complex ?

3) After I got marriage.. Do I need make the visa process, right ? Or just being married with a thai, gimme the rights to stay here ?

Thanks for the attention.

Oh dear..

1. You need a paper from your Embassy to marry - it will include income question but there is no requirement for any set amount - basically it is that you are not currently married.

2. Once you have Embassy paper you translate into Thai and register at Ministry of Foreign Affairs. When returned you can visit any District Office to register marriage.

3. You do not need a visa to stay in Thailand up to 90 days at a time - but if you do not want to make visa runs you must extend your stay on a yearly basis. That will require proof of 40k per month family income. It can be income the wife earns and is proven by tax payments.
