Non-imm B Multiple Entry, 12 Or 15 Months?

Featured Replies

I have a Non-Imm B Multiple entry visa issued by a Thai consulate in the United States. I've seen conflicting reports on whether it can be extended for 12 or 15 months, currently I've made 4 border runs, with a 90 day extension gained each time. Will I be able to make one last border run before I go back to the states and get a new visa? Thanks.

All entries must be made while the visa is valid. So if visa expires on September 5 and you return from a trip on September 4 you will get a new 90 day stay.

Technically, if you do what lop says, you can get 15 months.

But this is Thailand and I wouldn't be too confident; immigration officer could wrongly tell you that you only have until the date on the visa.

That isn't too far fetched an idea considering that some immigration officers stamp USED on a 3 month old (very unexpired) multiple entry visa. That ALMOST happened to my multiple on my last entry but I quickly stopped her because I was on-guard following the horror report of it happening to another poster recently. I stopped her on time and when she realized she had almost made the mistake, she (and I too) started laughing in relief... :o

Not technically, actually is the case; this procedure is a routine occurrence at the border.

My friends and I have done this loads of times (entered just before visa expiry) and never had a problem getting a 90 day stamp.

As you report, people make mistakes. However, if some officer did mistakenly try to pawn someone off without another 90-day entry before an multi-1 year was expired, politely explaining the situation or asking to speak to a higher-up should rectify the situation.

Yes, the joy of the 1-year 15 month multi-entry visa :o
