Phuket November

Featured Replies

Hi, folks. Hoping for a bit of help with a couple of points.

Have booked a flight to bankok for early november and still intend to go despite the political turmoil at the mo.Wasn,t sure whether to fly to phuket or take the government bus. as such have not booked accomodation yet and was thinking of booking into a guest house on arrival.Am i correct in assuming there should be no problemb getting accomodation when i arrive. I was in Pattaya in April and a lot of accomodation on offer would have been cheaper if not pre-booked.

Also what kind of baggage alowance do the internal flights to Phuket usually offer seeing as most of my allowance is probably already taken up with scuba gear.

Last but not least- Any divers out there who can comment on vis in November (wasnt brill in Pattaya April) or maybe suggest diver friendly accomodation preferably on or near Patong beach.

Many thanx,Nitrobubble.

Fly with air asia (cheap but only 15kg luggage) or Thai (expensive, but possibly more luggage). Loads of accommodation in Patong - just pitch up and have a look around. They'll start charging for high season in november though. soi bansan behind jungceylon centre probably has best range of budget accommodation.

Many thanx Hans. one last question you may be able to help me with.I may be arriving too late to get to the Southern bus terminal in time. Is it generally possible to get a last minute flight over the counter or do you have to book well in advance.

Vis is never any good in Pattaya...never more than 5 meters and usually 2-3. Interesting note however, my friend saw a turtle on the Kram wreck a week back and an instructor buddy who dives almost daily in Pattaya says it's been in and around the kram for awhile.

As to Phuket in November, vis should be much better than pattaya. In ideal conditions, most sites will be 10-15m and maybe up to 20. you can stay anywhere on the island and diveshops will pick you up but the diving industry in centered in Chalong Bay (boats depart from there) and many inexpensive accomodations there.

You can book at the counter, but it may well be closed if you're arriving late. Look at their websites for details.

Thanks for the advice. Yep the vis was about 3m on most of my Pattaya dives, maybe 6 on one of them. Saw a massive turtle but was on one of the drifts. Will look at some hotels and dive shops in chalong beach on line.

Again, many thanx.
